okay, I've had my savage for about a month now, and I'm having some radio/servo problems.

the radio will work fine when the engine is not running. then, when i get it going, the throttle has a slow response at times, and worse yet, when i go full throttle, the steering servo wont move/ sill turn and let off the throttle.

i know this isnt caused by loss of signal because the truck will do this no matter how far away it is from me. also, my batteries are fully charged.
I'm thinking it may be because of water (i was driving in the snow not long ago) but i dont understand why this would happen because of water.

anyone have ideas on what could be happening?

Honestly it sounds like you have water in the receiver. Do you have another receiver you could test it out with in place of it to see if this in fact what is going on?? That is the best way to do it.

okay, ill try it with my friends reciever. but, i forgot to mention, it will work, turn and give throttle at the same time if i dont have full throttle on, up to almost full it will work fine

The first item that catches my attention here is the comment on the water (blue). If you got any water in the receiver tray and it intruded upon the receiver or servos, it could have caused something to rust. This rust can both inhibit signals and short out the equipment. If the moisture was still in the receiver tray, intruded upon the equipment and then power was applied (ie batteries turned on), you could have easily fried the equipment.

The second thing that catches my attention is the comment about the radio working fine when the engine is not running (red). I take it to mean that the engine is actually cold steel and not just idling. If this behavior only occurs when the engine is running, you may have some loose metal-to-metal contact creating a EM field that is interfering with your radio. This occurs when loose metal vibrates at a very high frequency (like when an engine is running at WOT). Do you have a metal exhaust pipe? This is usually the culprit as it vibrates against the chassis. Other than that, check for loose metal-to-metal anywhere on the truck.

Taken one at a time, you could expect trouble. Taken together, you are definitely going to have some kind of radio problem.

no metal pipe, stock savage 25. and its only at full throttle when this happens

You may be getting some kind of interference of the type I mentioned above. Check for loose screws and any metal objects that might vibrate together. For instance that metal handle (roll bar) may be loose. If it is, it can generate quite an interference signal at WOT (way open throttle = full throttle).

Other than that, you can check a new receiver and see if it still happens. Perhaps the loose wiring is in the receiver itself and only works negatively when WOT shakes it enough.

If you think you might have water in your receiver, take it out and put it on the heater vent when the heater comes on. Don't put it on the hottest vent in the house, but 100 F (36 C) should do it. Leave it there for the day as the heater comes on and off and that should do it.

Adding to what bill61 said. Whenever you get anything electrical on the rc wet, if you unplug it quickly enough, and let it dry completely before using it again, 9/10 you won't have any problems. Getting it dryed out quickly usually stop corrosion before it starts as well.

I had a similar problem with my savage not long ago after playing in the snow. I had the same advice as you from all over the place so i tried a new reciever and it worked for an hour then went back to radio ga ga. After replacing the entire radio system inc servo's and switch harness it still did the same, turned out to be a faulty crystal in the transmitter. Not saying thats your problem but hey, its a great way of collecting spares, if i keep going like this i will soon have an SS.

Okay, I'm getting frustrated.

i took it all apart, dried the servos on my vent for 2 days, tightend all my screws.

i took it out and it was running perfect, truning and all, then about 5 minutes in, it would start to only hit mid revs and not turn again. if i hit WOT it would go up and down in the mid revs and slightly turn side to side, not enought to actually turn the truck aut it was kind of shaking

Is it possible you have some glitching forom metal to metalcontact, but only after something loosens or heats up?

Try a new RX crystal dude. Had same problem with mine and thats all it was, could be same on yours.
