Does anyone on here besides myself race savages? also before someone says anything, yes i know most poeple say that monster trucks arent really for racing and they should just bash. Well unfortunately we have a bunch of guys where I'm from that race these big boys on oval tracks and other courses. So back to my original inquiry does anyone else like to pep these things up and tear up the track? If so place tell me what type of trucks you're running or if possible post up a pic of it with some specs!!

Personally if i was going to race a save on a oval track it would have some customization done to it. I would have it as light as possible. run no more than a .28 bc you get a higher rev than larger motors not a whole lot more tho. Have it geared for speed still with a little pep depending on how the oval is set up. And also make a shorter shock work so it would have the lowest stance possible. But all of this depends on the track. How long the straights are. How sharp the curves are. and the type of dirt

i post a couple pics of our tracks.. also you have any ideas on dropping ride height on these trucks. I know you can get adjustable shocks but is there any other ways?

take the shocks apart and put a piece of tubing on the shaft before you re-install it into the shock body. that will limit the shock heighth

Dude that's awesome I was going to use the extra rubber bump stops that came with my savage hot bodies aluminum shocks to make them travel less. Is shock oil hard on the tubing?

I want to race my savages, where I live everyone has buggies and truggies......one guy has muggies

A guy named DREANMACHINES has a bad a$$ savage, it'll do 74.9 miles a hour if you wanna race he'd be the guy to pick his brain, and the ERCM guy makes killer engines

I have a few engines that I'm willing to use up or get rid of altogether axial .32 spec1, axial .28RR1, ofna .28-.32 not sure what size this one is it has an aftermarket heat sink (nabbed it out of a flattened thunder tiger truggy...I might wanna keep this one)
I still have the stock engine, I ran a gallon of traxxas 33% through it before I swapped it for the ofna, I also have a couple CEN genesis 7.7..... Just traded for these (gave up a peddle bike)

Oh yeah, the dream machines guy, said to use hellfire shocks to get the ride height down, also in one of his pics he has flux shocks on his savage x, with a chopped down shock tower mount.
Get a LCG kit, I have one from HPI, and I'm thinking about ordering the LCG kit from FLM....unless someone can show me a different LCG kit.

If you don't wanna mod the shock travel you could look for long travel upper and lower A-arms, and a sway bar kit

I'm working on a low slung savage myself....no pics until I'm done but I'll keep a photo album for you all.

On savages the more horizontally you mount your shocks the less forgiving the suspension dampening effect is, but you'll stiffen up the ride a bit or at least take some of the suspension travel out

My stock shocks bent when I mounted them this way and smashed into another savage

I ordered a set of IRC V2s, and am also keeping an eye out for longer upper/lower A-arms
I've sent an email to GPM to see if they'll make me what I'm after.

I have a set of AKA Evo Gridiron truggy tires for my Savage, I haven't ran them yet but I've seen other ppl post there experiences with that set up and it looks very promising! My truggy wheels are 4 inches tall, that's about the same height as the stock GT2 tires on Warlock wheels that come standard on the X and Flux. The narrow width allows the truck to turn in much crisper and sharper, the tires don't roll over in the corners like typical MT tires do.

So as i had said i would post some pics of one the tracks we have
