I have been a busy boy....

:sneaky: See ya at the track...

I took it to the track last night and I was very happy with it, however it was a little underdampned and undersprung so it was hitting some of the jumps a little funny, so I Bumped up from 30 wt to 40 wt oil.

i like it alot, i can not wait to get my savage all done with so i can start driving again :w00t:

The only problem I have is the fuel tubing inside the shock cylinder. That might be why you were under dampened. The tubing took up some of the oil volume that is normally in cylinder.

What you should do is build the shock without the fuel tubing on the shaft. Just prior to installing the rod end on the shaft, put the fuel tubing on. That is right. Put the bump stop on the outside of the cylinder. Then you have the full benefit of the the full volume of the dampener vice nearly one third of it being taken up by tubing.

how does putting the fuel tubing on the outside limites the shock travel. Putting the fuel tubing on the outside only limites how fare the shock can be compressed. I might be wrong but putting the fuel tubing on the inside limites how fare the shock can travel out which lowers the ride hight. I may be wrong but I think he did this so he could lower his ride hight.

I put the tubing on the inside to lower the truck, it also acts like an upstop. I have also slid 5mm of fuel tubing on top of the bump stop. I believe it was underdampned because I only used 30wt initially, I have since changed to Serpent 40wt which is considerably thicker, it's even thicker then other manufacturers 40wt. I am trying to make this thing handle better then a truggy that runs at the local track that I finished a close 2nd to last time I raced. Hands down this truggy handles better then the raced out MAXXes, the Monster GTs, and my Savage which is sometimes the only one in competition, unless my freinds from Miami come up.. If anyone has any setup tips they will be greatly appreciated.
I am also considering the adjustable upper arms to get some camber in the truck... I am also looking for a cheap set of 40 series rims and Bow Ties if anyone knows where to pick up a set.
:preachin: Death to the evil truggy....

Fair enough. Misread the issue at hand. That set-up will indeed lower the truck. In the end, you might have found a better set up with a shorter shock. Your method is effective but messes with the mechanics or fluid dynamics of the shock dampener.

If it works, don't change it.

kbomb nice looking truck there man. That's a great looking body to boot. All of the mods you have done you will thank yourself for down the road.

Thanks Newnitrofan.... I understand what you are saying Skymaxx, but so far so good... The suspension mod is just to hold me over until I see how my buddies turns out.. He is installing the Nova adjustable shock tower and some Mugen buggy shocks. His truck should be spot on and supper adjustable, but it aint gonna come cheap, and I need to go get my 40 series today.
