Hi everyone, I'd like to convert my Truckzilla for racing... so I believe I would need to change a few stuff.
Has anyone ever tried these shock towers? They are cheaper than Nova's.
http://www.rcbros.com/cart/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=75

Also which shocks would you recommend to go with the shock towers for lower ride height?

Which tuned pipe goes well with the K4.6 engine? I have the Truckzilla pipe (and everything else from the conversion kit), but perhaps there's a better pipe out there?

So far I have the HPI heavy duty cups and bones, 4 bevel diffs, bellcrank servo saver, GPM extended chassis, K4.6 engine, Dirt Bonz on Proline velocity std offset, Hitec HS-5645MG steering servo, HPI dual disk brake and HPI alum threaded shocks.

I thought about using lowered chassis, but that will put me in the truggy class.
Looking forward to reading your inputs.

As for the towers, that is really cheap so it makes me wonder. But i think that they are durable enough once looked at the specs. The novas are just better known and have many more holes.

Some people will use buggy shocks when they run the nova shock towers. So maybe u could try that. I have not tryed, but i do know that some of the serious racers are running ofna 9.5 shocks. I am not sure about if they are running rears or front tho.

For pipe: can't go wrong with the HPI Ribbed pipe for that extra bottom end. I have not trye it yet, but i do know that it is a really good pipe choice for any type of motor.

Using lowered chasis will actually not put u into the truggy class. I did extensive research on that subject and if it doesn't have a center diff, and is not made from a buggy( which has a plate on the bottom that will sit on the ground if the car is pushed on). Look at the latest ROAR FUEL NATIONALS RACE and ui will see that John Schultz /owner of Rockconcepts took fourth in the big block monster truck class. And his truck had lowered tvps that extended it 1 1/2" and lowered the motor and tranny 1/2''. Buggy shocks, lowered shock towers. etc...

And for the HPI aluminum threaded shocks, those will be fine for racing, i think that most savage racers run the stockers.

Goodluck

Get Twisted Toyz shock towers, they are 1/2in thick delrin, strong as hell. for shocks get rear buggy shocks, UE shocks are really good, also they are $70 for a set of 4 and that is all you need, and LCG TVP's are a must and they will not put you in the truggy class. I have Twisted Toyz, LCG TVP's
PM Member SKIP for info on TT stuff.

You will not find a single person how hates their UE Shocks. and since you only need 4 they will lighten the truck up

Yea Trant Is Right so is mxboy100. hey Trant wtf i pmed you bout the s-25 and you wont reply. did you back out or what.

Hey guys, before you all go beein so ignorant like you already have, and saying that the lowered tvp's won't put you in the truggy class, consider this, do you race at his tack? NO. Every track has it's own rules, and his track might consider lowered tvp's to put him in the truggy class despite the ROAR rules...

I highly doubt that they will put him in the Truggy class, the only true thing that separates a Truggy from a Truck is a 3rd diff, and unless he is putting in a third diff I doubt he will, He will most likley race in a MT class, or Unlimited class, and if his track officals think that LCG TVP's are a truggy thing, then they have not opened their eyes to see that a Truggy and a LCG MT are 2 compleatly different things.

Carbon, SKIP comes here ever once and a while. You might have better luck E-mailing him if you can.

for ride hieght and adjusments for racing and bashing get the nova towers $55, and 4 ofna ultra lx comp rear shocks. you can get lucky on flea bay and get the shocks for $20 shipped for 2. i got 4 shocks and bought 2 extra for back ups. i make the the hieght adjustment level where the lower arms are level/even so there isn't any drop out of the a-arms when the truck is in the air. truck is so balanced as well when i hit the track jumps. hpi did an excellent job of making the savage balanced while in the air.

and get rid of those HPI alum threaded shocks. people pay good money for them to bend the shafts on the first jump.

Thank you for that. Where can I get Nova towers for $55? The Nova website sells them for $65.

Towerhobbies, or Stormerhobbies are a good place to start, also check RushRC.
