Hey Guys,

Any recomendation on good Bashing tires/Wheels and the same info for racing? I prefer 40 series, but am looking for the best setup. Thanks again.

Tom

For racing there are the bowties in 40 series and regular... Imex makes some small pinned tires as well. Traxxas also makes some racing tires. The softer the track, the bigger the knobs need to be. For bashing, there are the mashers, dirt hawgs, and tons of other tires.

Is there a good site on the net to order tires and wheels for the maxx at better prices than retail?

Tom

A lot of guys by me are really liking the new revo tires that look like bowties...they are a little more meat than BTs but they grip really well on more surface conditions and they are cheaper....if you run on the road at all get the mashers or some similar tread....pin treads will get chewed on the road very quickly......

Actually I really do like the Revo tires on the TMaxx, I have a set but I haven't had a chance to race them yet. I got them for the fact that they were reasonably priced and guys raved about them. I am thinking about getting a set of Big Joes for general bashing. Good choice?

I was talking about those new pin treaded traxxas tires that fit the Revo rims....and Big joes are diff Killers....you'd better have some bulletproof diffs before running those.....I personally like the standard wheels on MTs....it makes it feel more like a truck....get a buggy for the performance driving at the track....for bashers I'd get standard wheels not 40s....you have better acceleration and more meat to cushion the rims from crashes.....besides the 40s are just more expensive cause the design is different....I don't see them being all that great except for bowties on the track and road rages for the street.....those ar ethe only 40s I have.....but JesseG did give me some big ol monster pirate wheels and they are freaking huge....I'm gonna throw those on the mutant and see how it does......

almost every MT racer/basher at my lhs use team losi Zombie tires and I will be getting mine soon they have a nice deep tread yet it is even so they are good on road as well as off.

So 40s will kill your diffs? Wow I never thought of that.. (still green to this stuff) That is something I definitely do not want to do. So just go with the regular old T Maxx size tires 2.2 I think? I just bought a 1/8 scale buggy so I think I will leave the maxx to just bashing and having fun in the dirt and leave the buggy to race. Can you recomend a wheel and tire combo in the regular maxx size for bashing then? Thanks

Tom

the 40 series rims aren't gonna kill your diffs it's the big burly tires you can put on them that will....the road rages will be less resistance or rotating mass or whatever you want to say kills the diffs...and the bowties as well....whichever tire you use though duct tape the inside of the tire before you mount it so you won't balloon as much....I like the masher 2000, mulchers (if your only on dirt), and I think the Dirt hawgs are the ones i like all w/ RPM offset wheels...I don't like the chrome because they get mangled too quickly.....tires are really a prefference thing too though so don't take anyones opinion on what they like as gospel.....I know guys that love the stock t-maxx tires for bashing....I think they run like rocks.....

I want some zombie's too.

i think the cheapest route to getting these is ebay.
There is this guy on there with alot of buyitnow auctions for them as 4 tires instead of the pair.

I plan on putting them on rpm stablemaxx clawz. I have had alot of luck in the past with them.
They are really tough, and I tried to destroy them.
haha

Now if I still want to run the 40's and don't want it to be harder on the drive train couldn't I change the spur by going up or, by possibly going down a tooth or two on the bell? Would that slow the truck down enough to lessen the strain on the drivetrain? Also give it more low end? Thanks

Tom

If you put more torque into the drivetrain, then it will mess up the drivetrain faster.
