Anyone have any suggestions for a basic setup that works good for a Savage at the racetrack (some loose dirt, some hardpack)?

I know, I know, conditions vary. What I'm looking for is basic suspension setups, recommended ride height, shock oil weights, diff lock oil weights, to do or not to do diff lock oil in the front, etc.

BTW, I already took care of the tire issue. The stockers really stink in the turns - enter Proline.

I can not give you many specifics as I am more of a basher than a racer, but I will suggest a lower ride height, softer springs, and perhaps a lighter oil weight. You want to have low CG and rapid articulation of the suspension available. Others can give you specifics on wheel set up with respect to camber and toe.

Aside from what Sky said (soft and low) you might want a little "toe out" on the front and a little "toe in" on the rear. MT's biggest problem on the track is they push something aweful in the corners. Toe out on the front and some toe in on the rear will help you in the corners. You don't need much. If you have some time check out the link below. It's one of the best when it comes to chassis dynamics. It really covers everything, and even though it talks about buggies, it applies to anything with 4 wheels.
