Well guys I am going to be starting on a low lean mean race setup maxx soon. I need input on what LRP engine to run. It is going to be running a ECRM pipe and I will be sending the engine off to be modded also. This is the chassis I will be running. Chassis is big block or small block mountable. I am not sure I think it might be the same length as the #4907 maxx I know it uses factory skids, and extended chassis braces. when I purchased it I did not get the big block mounts I am hoping I can use a set of supermaxx mounts that I have. It did come with the matching CVDs. I knowe the guy I got it fron had an LRP mounted on it.:D

You you'r best bet for a race maxx would be to use a SB engine. They hit way higher RPMs
Also maybe speak with a few different people that modify engines to see what engine you can get the most out of being modded. Example would be tht the Trx 3.3 has little modding potential but the picco's engine enternals handle extra power better

Talk with robin at ecrm,I'm pretty sure he has a modded sh bb ready for you, basically the same as an lrp

Nah I will be going with the LRP .28 engine. Already decided.

From what I'm told an lrp is an sh engine

The SH, mach, lrp, xtm, losi (I may have forgotten a couple) all come from the same plant in taiwan and all share the same internals. I would not sell them if they were anything less then the quality of the LRP Spec3 .28. I'd bet a dollar SH will offer the .30 and .32 once LRP has their run with them as well.

So what SH engine would be the same variant as the LRP .28 engine then. Cause I have seen those SH engines online cheap as crap like half price or less than the lrp engines. And isn't SH what comes stock on a Redcat racing lineup of trucks.

Ok. I found new SH .28 engines on egay for under 100 bucks shipped. I have a B01 race ported GS .21 engine. It is pretty much new and is mounted to my Gs Storm truggy with a Jammin Jp1 pipe How would this combo compare to the LRP. I know it makes insane power on my Gs truck.

The SH P8 is the identical one to the LRP spec3, those cheap ones are probably the three port engine and may even be the ABN style which you don't want. I'll post some pictures in the next day or so as I will have both a spec3 and a P8 apart, and I bet nobody will see any difference.

Verry cool of you to post pics of these two apart,as I have been curious to have an oppertunity myself

Pics would be awsome thanks!:D I am thinking about going in the direction of the picco .26 red dot not sure still. I have that race modded B01 on my gs truck just sittin around and its pretty much new so I guess i could use it to.

I'm sure you know this but,the picco is a drop in all you need is the mount,if you go true bb you will need a mount,cb,clutch, header, pipe, extended chassis,

Yep I know the picco is a drop in. I have the ofna picco mount already, also have the big block mounts already. And that chassis is a extended chassis. It is also setup to run a small block or a big block engine. I am leaning more toward that red dot or the B01 race engine I already have, it is setup pretty good with that JP1 pipe, plus it has been modded already. I also have the clutch bell for either setup to. I wonder does anyone know what the length is of the chassis on the 4907 maxx. I am wanting to run a new 3.3 style transmission. I know I will have to mod the chassis for the brake to clear right. I am hopping that this chassis is the same length as the 4907 so it will be easier to come up with center cvd's. Plus the chassis came with steel center CVD's that match.:D

11 3/8 from bulkhead mount ends

Thanks much man heading downstairs to measure the RD chassis now.:D

Sweet mine measured exact 11 3/8 so should make setting up the newer style 3.3 trans a lot easier. Man I am beating my head against the wall on engine choice for this rig. I have been wanting to do a Losi 3.4 maxx for awhile now. I wonder how the 3.4 would compare to the red dot .26 picco engine.:D

Imo the picco is a better engine, the 3.4 I believe is an sh plant built engine

Ok thats what I figured. I think I am leaning more and more to the Picco red dot. Still up in the air though. That LRP sounds good also.
