O man guys my project (CHEAP TRUCK) racer revo is beging to shape up great. I know I probally have about a month or more before its done thought. I just got done makeing a new throttle mount out of a stock box, it looks killer compared to having that big bulky thing hanging on the side. Now I'm moving on to the other side to get rid of the big Rx box. I was going to go the tekno route but after further inspection I kind of like the way people like Z400 have use a t-maxx battery box and had the battery sitting on the chassi. I think it looks cleaner and lighter. So heres my question, how is this done and whats needed.

Also I will be mounting up my hitec hs965mg steering servo and have heard that hitec servos need some special horn for mounting on the revo, is this true? Where do I get this part if you know.

Thanks for your time,
Bryson

Hi Bryson, sounds like ur Revo's gonna b kick Azz you'll hav2 snd some pix. I've been wrking on mine on and off for abt 2.5 yrs lol I went with the Off road look roll bar etc, I've got an H-3 body for it that I've still got to get painted. I've prob put over 1000.00 in2 it ezly if the wife knew that she'd cutt off my manhood lol. Keep us posted on ur project.

I have spent the whole f-in night staring at this truck trying to figuar out a way to rig the battery and stuff being as light as possible. Heres where I'm stumped, the space between the servo and tank, I can't figuar out how to mount a rx box to air lol. I have ran threw every possible configuration but noting pops to mind.

As for the servo horn, you can use a horn that came with the servo. I used the little blue aluminum horn that came with my 5645 when I put it in my Revo. Also get the HD servo saver spring, and the proline single servo arm if your really looking to cut weight.

I can't help with the radio mounting stuff...sorry.

Bryson Your best bet is to go to the track and practice, tune the shocks and diff oils, figure out what gear combo will work for your track. Getting a truck dialed into the track and practice is going to help you way more then a lighter tuck.

But some big weight savers are getting rid of the EZ-Start.
can't help you with the maxx battery box, I have never seen it before. I just got the Tekno stuff, It rocks.

Tarant trust me I have everything dialed in on my track just need to get the truck dialed. So A new question comes up after mounting my new servo. Mind you (HS-965 MG). I can't get complet through from lock to lock, why is this, the horn is set right and trim to but just dosnet turn far enough.

There is a sweet spot in the throw.....make sure you linkage is adjusted so you start at 45 degrees exactly and the tires are straight. No slop in the rod ends...it should just come fully side to side leaving enough clearance to drive....Takes a bit of fiddling...but you will get it

Well I just got the servo thing figuared out. Just used a differnt horn. This servo has masive power. I'm thinking of geting one of the high torque servos form eddy for throttle, but am undecided on that of now. Because I just orderd the tekno boxes and wing mount along with a offna wing. I can't wait to get it, because then I'm headed to the track for the first time in nearly 2 months.

Tekno really made a customer out of me. Thursday I put in the order for the Rx boxes and wing mount and a offna high downforce wing. It came today with the mail. Thats quick I dont care who you are, and I paid for basic shipping. I guess its because there baised in San Deigo but that made me want to buy all my stuff from them. So any way, I couldnt wait. I put everything on the truck tonight, I started around 6 and finished now. Id say thats pretty good for haveing nothing but the diffs and a-arms on. Never did get to rebuild the diffs though. The only thing I didnt get to is cutting the roll bar down just to hold the fule lines and keep them form looking sloppy. Heres what she looks like, I think It is just feakin BITCHEN! The pics are a little blury, I need to figuar out how to make them clearer at close range.

I'm not shure on the wing mount I think it was like 25. http://www.teknorc.com/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=b02f546fc6a423127fe6fcb87a201459 Its a great site and easy to order like I said before and, I couldnt belive how fast there shipping was. Today I'm going to get the strong servo saver spring, and a few other dodads. Next big things are lungford rocker posts, traxxas pushrods and camber links.

Well today I finished her up and got everything settled. I bought a new fule filter, Big daddy LMAO! And I picked up the heavy duty servo saver spring. I got all the throttle linkage figuared out so now its done. Next time I'm in the hobby shop I need to pick up another associated throttle return spring though, I kinda bent this one up pretty good and who knows how long it will last. So this week I'm goin the through the stocker tires on and start break in hopefully in time for next friday which is race night at my local track and enter myself in my first officall race, hopefully they havent enforced the transponder rule yet. So heres the completed pic.

I havent done alot with it but the stuff I have done is the basic for ricing id like to think.
1.FOC
2.Tekno Rx boxes
3.Tekno wing mount
4.Ofna high downforce wing
5.Custome cut throttle servo mount
6.HS-965MG Steering servo
7.Heavy duty servo savor spring
8.OS.18tm
9.Traxxas resignator pipe
10.And the Responce tires.
Thats it for now I think. But as soon a graduation rolls around I'm going to get rpm arms all the way around, lungsford rocker posts, traxxas camber links, traxxas pushrods, GTR shocks, Traxxas pillow balls, center diff and rear break combo, and those robinson racing harden steel gears. But that will all come little at a time. For now i think I have a good set up for my local track. And my fishing scale says my basher revo weights 9 pounds and this one weighs 8, so I guess I shaved a pound off, not bad id say. I just can't weight to try this sucker out.

Good looking truck what roll bar did you buy? I have the RC Solutions on my trk I love it, it's light and very tough.

I didnt buy a roll bar simply cut the stocker to what I needed. Man this freakin OS is giveing me more of a head ache than any mill I have ever broke in. I have blisters on both hands and on damn near all my fingers. I put the eazy stater on and after some work it fires up, idle to low. And then they make the ide screw impossibe to get to with the spring on. I get that set right set on the ground to go start heat cycling and brign it in after 5 seconds and boom 240. I'm like what the hell. And looking threw this darn manual, where the hell is the high speed needle and the low speed for that matter. I can't figuar it out. So now I'm sitting here rubing ointment on my hands trying not to think about how F***ing bad they burn and dreading tomarrow trying to start break in again. I didnt even get threw one tank today, hell half for that matter. :help:

Bryson

Ok I got the mill running smothly not and have a new issue that evolved somehow. I have a pinging going on somewhere and can't find it. Its just a low zzzziiiiiigggg ing sound and I have searched everywhere. I damn near burt my fingers trying to find what the heck it was touching everything on the truck. I'm almost thinking its something to do with the clutch because thats the only place I can't touch. Anyone had this problem....

Bryson

WOW I got this sucker going good I'm curently 2 tanks into the heat cycle and tomarrow will finish up. can't wait to get this sucker out on the track.
