well i am looking for new race tires and rims for my new revo 3.3 when it comes in. in my revo now i have 40 series wabash wheels and bowties and i have heard it is better to run the standard size rims i will be running the 23mm hubs so i need something that will fit those hubs. i dont need them right this monent but i would like to look into them as soon as possible. if they are not a PL tire then a link would be nice :wasted:

none of us can really suggest any tires unless you tell us what kind turrain you will be racing on.:ponder2:

SuperMaxx, unless I am mistaken, I don't think there is a standard sized rim for the 23mm hubs which may limit you to 40 series tires/rims.

The folks who will know for sure are Revo Rancher and Jetmech, but I've heard fantastic things about Traxxas Hurricanes (?). Jet mentioned something about it in a thread before but I cannot find it right off the bat. I'm sure he'll chime in, as will Rancher, with some great advice.

If I find the link to the thread I'm thinking of, I'll come back and post it.

check out proline's MT wheels page and look all the way at the bottom. they do now make a standard width wheel for the 23mm with 1/2 in. offset. looks like it's only the dish wheel though. i didn't see one for the wabash. i personally use the traxxas response tires and hurricane wheels on my truck. they're a good all around tire and VERY light. for the prolines i mostly see people running bowties or crime fighters. those are excellent tires also.

Here's my suggestion. Response with Hurricanes or Panther Pythons on Hurricanes. 23mm were designed for the big blocks that were ripping the center hub out of the 40 series prolines. The stock Gemini wheel is junk as is the Talon, unless your bashing. The Python is quite a bit heavier than the Response but you need it for the .18 or .20 mills, it won't balloon as bad. I haven't had too much trouble with ballooning on the Response with the .18TM though. I've heard from quite a few that Sportmaxx do not hook up very well, especially on blue groove. Revo Rancher has used them so he'd be a better source.

well i think i am just going to get standard size 1/2 offset and some crimefighters or some bowties and use them and see if they work good or not if they dont work then i will get some maxx mulchers and try them

Are you planning to race? That was the impression I got from you question. The Hurricane w/ Response combo is something like 180 grams lighter than the stock combo and something like 200 grams lighter than the Bowtie Wabash or Velocity combo. Don't recall the exact numbers but I recall someone on another board weighing them all. Times those numbers by four and you have a substantial weight savings not too mention a HUGE reduction in rotational mass which will be a HUGE increase in acceleration.

Do the response only come in soft? What about the hurricanes with the panther pythons?

40 series with crime fighters. they are better than bowties ( i have both ). they hook up great, even on pavement. wear wise... they are quite durable.

Yes the response on come in one compound however you can trim up some foams to get the feell your after. They do wear quicker than others but IMO they are a good all around tire for most tracks.

Pythons are quite a bit heavier and though they say it's a revo wheel sized tire, they don't fit quite right.

well i got a set of r 40 series crime fighters and a set of standard crimefighters and they work great the best tire for a revo 2.5r is the standard maxx tires and for the revo 3.3 the 40s work better so thanx for the help guys

i have had very good performance from the 40 series prolines I am running now. But I like the way my new hellfire tires are working out too. They are thinner, but dont exactly have the tread I would use on the track. Havent tried em on thetrack yet. I would say the best tire for track use would be either the crimefighter, bowtie, response, nubs on a set of velocity wheels.

you can definitey get some velocity standard maxx wheels with 23mm hexes. and throw a set of crimefighters on there and you are good to go.

i think you could look at the MT series also..i could be wrong though.

actually, after checking prolines site..i would go with the MT bowties or crimfighters. and you can get velocity wheels in standard or 1/2" ofset with the 23mm hex.
