My R/C REVO 3.3, model 5309, will not reverse. It goes fine in drive in both gears, but when I put in in reverse it will just spin, and will not go back into to drive. I am new to the hobby, and if anyone could help I would appreciate it!

Check to see if the shifter is fully engaging

Be sure that it is fully locking into drive after you are in reverse. If not then you may need to adjust the linkage. If that doesn't work then get the FOC ftw.

When did the problem started? Did you change some settings before this happened? Was it already doing reverse before you noticed it? Have you checked your idle speed? If the idle speed is too fast, the reverse gear will not engage. Try lowering the idle speed initially using the trim on your transmitter, your spur gear must stop spinning, then put it in reverse and ease a bit on the throttle and see what happens. Also check the servo linkage that controls the shifter, maybe it got loose. if after lowering the idle speed does not fix the issue, it may be a sign that there might be something going on with the transmission gear. Just give yourself time to know your truck. I'm sure you will fix this soon.
Good luck.

FYI, ditch the opti drive and the reverse. It's a time bomb waiting to EXPLODE. Mine shifted into reverse while in the air. Landed. In reverse and shredded the tranny. Needless to say it ruined my day. Switched to the FOC and haven't had a problem since.

The only way that could happen is if the wheels stopped moving in the air, you hit the swtich, and when it landed you cracked the throttle wide open

My son had the controller and I had just started the truck so the throttle trim was turned up. Before I took the controller of him he flipped the switch. The truck was easing forward because of the throttle trim being turn up, which in turn wouldn't let the truck shift into reverse. I took a spin around the front yard then took off for the jump hit the jump hard and tapped the brake in the air to level out, this is when the truck shifted into reverse. That split second is all it took. Once the truck landed I was immediately on the hammer to hit the next jump. So yes I hit the brakes in the air as you've all done at one time or another. But no I didn't notice that it shifted into reverse before it landed. Did I do something wrong, no. Was it a fluke, prolly. But if it happened once...

I ended up getting the FOC after mine under wot decided that it would shift into reverse. It seems my optidrive failed and it did w/e it wanted. I checked the controller after I seen what it had dont and it was still in the forward mode. I had to switch it back and forth a few times to get it to engage to forward again. Best thing I have done to this truck so far is the FOC.
