Didn't know where to post this..

I just bought a used traxxas rustler with a 2.5r and put fresh batteries in it and it runs great but if you're more than like 5 feet away from it the Servos freak out.. also you have to point the antenna on the radio right at it or it freaks out lol.. any ideas what's wrong?
 
are there good batteries in the truck or what i mean is the receiver battery. and if its a AM radio the will have lots of interference.
 
i would say check the batteries and the antenna wire. and also install a fail safe so it dont run away from you.
 
I checked the antenna and I don't see anything wrong with it.. so what now?
 
i would seriously recommend using the traxxas upgrade program and upgrade your radio to a 2.4 ghz edition. these things rock and you can drive you car so far away from you to the point you can't really see what direction it's facing. it also includes a failsafe which I love and lets me really test the limits of range with this system, which btw I have not been successful at since I can barely see my car at 250 yards out and still have glitch free control
 
Well my t maxx 3.3 has the same radio I think and goes very far so I don't want to upgrade bc I don't think that's what's wrong.. anything else to check or try to determine what is wrong?
 
Split the remote in half and check the wire that goes to the antenna screw. If the batteries are good and the receiver's antenna wire isn't broken, cut or frayed, there isn't much else it could be. Did any of the electronics get wet?
 
I'm not sure I just purchased the truck.. wire inside remote is attached
 
If you have the same remote for a different truck, could you not just swap Crystals, and use the "good" transmitter?

Just i thought that popped into my head....
 
Well we want to run them at the same time..

Well I just put the crystal from the problem one into my t maxxs good controler and it works perfect.. so the problem is in the radio control so I tore it apart but everything looks good and is in tact.. hmm anybody have any ideas?
