Picked up some silicone diff oil yesterday and I'm pulling the savy apart now to do the diff upgrade. The diff screws on the RTR are coarse thread and the kit comes with new diff housings and fine thread screws.

Should I use the new diff housings and fine thread screws or should I keep what I have and just stuff them with the four gear parts and my diff oil?

Thanks for any quick replies! Need to get her back together before dinner time or the wife is going to have a fit :argue: (too hot to work in the garage on it today!)

Thanks!

Definately use the machine screws, there was a problem with the coarse screws backing out. I had that problem when I first got my SS, after going to the machine screws no more backing out problems.

Well, she's all together. Now sporting the four gear diff mod with 5K weight Ofna silicone oil, HPI dual disc brake mod (I can do stoppies!) :D, and HPI cam servo saver...

Now I've got to get used to the braking power and get a few more tanks through her!

Mucho thanks for the quick replies...

Just remember that when installing the machine screws to install them slowly so you don't melt the plastic and strip it out easily.

Now you tell me! :D

Seriously...

I used a small 3.6 volt power driver on the slowest/lowest setting (with the clutch almost kicking in) to drive them in to save my hands (I've got trigger finger in my thumb and repetitive motions causes it to flare up)...

But thanks for the post, someone else down the road reading this might need the info...
