Hello Everyone

My savage has sat around for the last month or so while i waited for parts,

i got it up and running today but when i took it out it started acting odd. turns out that the throttle servo seems to come on when idling,

for example, start the savage up, let idle no probs then from no where the throttle opens and the savage shoots off.

i was wondering, what may cause this? everything was fully charged, however i wandered if you left everything on charge for like a week could that actually cause more harm than good?

for instance my remote went from 11.3v to 9.1v in about 3 mins.

could the batteries be affecting this?

It could be as simple as radio interference.

Are you running AM 27Mhz radio ?

Do you have a Failsafe fitted ? (If not why not and for goodness FIT ONE !)

Also remember, RADIO on first, Then turn the rig Receiver on, NEVER the other way around, and Rig off first and radio off last when you have finished running.

Yes, flat Tx batteries can cause loss of signal, but not a runaway from a stand still, at least not in my experience.

Overcharging batteries can actually damage them in most cases in my experience of Rechargeable batteries of the NiCd and NiMh variety.

I have a futaba 3pm remote. Which I left on charge for a week. By mistake hopefully this hasn't messed it up.
Turning them on in the correct order always do that.
I do have a fail safe fitted did it with it connected, so disconnected it and it still did it!
Where I bash I have used lots of times without problem of interferance so didn't think it would be that.

What else could it be?

is it just the t/b servo that's doing it ?

it may be that trying a different servo might answer your questions. If you try a different servo and it does not glitch, then you have found your problem.

You could also try switching the rig electrics on without it running or with the radio on and see if the t/b servo acts up.

The other thing to check, is that your radio is correctly set.

Also, look for parts that are "metal to metal" and vibrating as this can cause interference as well, I.E. a metal brake rod in a metal hoop (a-la t/tiger EB4-S2 brakes)
 
With the voltage dropping off like that, I'd guess it's interference between the tx and rx. Charging the batteries for a week couldn't have been good for them. By the way, Nice to see ya back Tiger!!! Been awhile.:)
 
heya metalhead !!! yeah man, toooooooooo long bud, too long.

Matt, RE the voltage drop, you may be right, but i suspect that there is one maybe more "dead" batteries that will not hold their charge. Even with that voltage drop though, the radio would / should give audible warning, plus the f/s should prevent the run-away by "calling" a reaction to the lost signal from the Tx.
 
you might have a servo jumping mine did that to replace the servo sometimes a bad servo will jump or glinch
