I can get the buggy going with a few drops in the carb. then it starts and idles real fast and dies right away. can't keep it running? Any help?

Sounds like you have a fuel flow issue. How do you prime your engine? Do you have a fuel filter on the engine? What engine are we talking about? Can you actually see fuel in the fuel line reaching the engine?

I know, lots of questions, but the answers will help us narrow down the problem.

the gerneral rule of thumb is that if, on starting, it gurgles up and stalls it is too rich, if it accelerates up to a scream and dies it is to lean. Without more info I'd say you were running to lean, reset your HSN to factory and go from there, if you dont know what factory is then just fully close the needle then go 3-4 turns ACW, start it and lean up from there.......

EDIT: Also take the air filter off the carb and make sure the carb is only max 1mm open when the carb is fully closed.

Gentlemen, please make certain to read the entire question before responding. Yes, he has a lean condition. Why? Because he is only able to get it started when he puts a few drops of fuel into the carb (read he has taken off the air filter and that is the only fuel he is getting to the engine). Note that he says he can't keep it running and that it dies right away. This indicates that the engine is burning up that few drops of fuel and not getting anymore from the fuel system. So the problem is a fuel feed problem. It isn't directly related to the needle set up.

The first thing he needs to solve is the fuel flow issue. Once solved, he can move on to the fine tuning. And that is where your advice, Sherak, may come in handy.

Ya, a couple of drops is just the gas in the carb does`nt mean it`s gonna keep running. Take off the one side of the tube thats hooked to the pipeand blow in the tube until the gas gets in the carb then start it it`s ez and work great!
