hey guys..just joined the board today....my first question...i just broke in my lst today..everything went great..the only thing is...i dont think it is shifting...i dont hear any rpm change...i tried backing the screws out as far as i can with the same results...i never had a shoe type clutch before...i hear they are a smoother than the others..but not this smooth...lol...has anyone else had any problems with shifting??...any info would be great...thanx

Tighten them back down. You might want to go a little more snug than factory if you want the shift to be noticed more. I was wondering about mine and loosened it up a couple of turns. It was shifting as soon as I would hit the throttle. It does shift smoothly. If you tighten it to factory specs and slowly accellerate, you will notice the shift point. Otherwise, the LST's trans reminds me of a cvt once you get going. It's not real noticable, but it pulls like mad till top end. I'm betting you're shifting out right off the start. Just tighten them back to factory. Go run it on pavement going easy with the throttle and listening to where it shifts. I never hear mine shift at full throttle unless it's not warmed up yet. Maybe this will help.

thanx for the info...i actually fixed the problem shortly after i posted the question...it wound up being the motor clutches...there was alot of greasy residue in the clutch bell, and the clutches were slipping like crazy...so i cleaned them up raelly good and sanded them a bit...the truck shifted perfect after that....now everything is great...this truck rips...has anyone tried putting the motor clutches on backwards?...try it...i think everyone who does will be very pleased....thanx again...later

Backwards? Pleased? Might I ask why? It wouldn't be the fact of having to take it apart to fix it correctly would it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read, They just will not operate correctly if installed backwards.

lol...trust me....installing the clutches backwards causes them to open in the direction the motor turns...instead of trailing behind...way less slippage...all my monster trucks including buggies all have reversed clutches....i dont think it works with the aluminum clutch shoes though..tried that on a friends monster gt...i will try it again on my lst and see what happens...can't hurt..just wont work.....the clutch shoes will jam against the clutch bell and cause alot of low end power...as well as hi end due to less slippage...i also clip the springs making them shorter and stronger on sum of my clutch setups...a tighter spring allows the motor to rev a little more before they fully engage..another great deal...try it...ull love it... and by the way...it seems the clutches last longer installed backwards....
