i am thinking about getting an os cv-r for my losi xxx nt so that i can beat my friends xxxnt :winnar:. I found a great deal on ebay but, it is not a pullstart. I was wondering what does it take to convert a non pullstart engine to pullstart? Do you just have to buy the back plate and the pullstart, or do you have to buy a new crank shaft? Also, is there anything less expensive i could so that i could beat my friends truck? We both have the losi xxxnt sport. Both are bone stock. I take his in excelleration, but his beats mine by around 1 to 1 1/2 seconds in a drag race in top end. Could someone also tell me what pitch the losi takes for spur gear, and how many teeth the stock spur is? I am probly going to go up a couple teeth to see if that helps before i buy a brand new engine.

oh yea, i am probly going to get a new pipe before i get an engine and see how that works out also, what do you suggest that would give me better top end with out sacraficing low end exceleration? I was thinking about the mip stinger, the cvec, or the adam drake tuned pipe. Anyone have any experience with any of these? would the performance increase be noticiable, i am not talking night and day here, but would an average basher like like me be able to see a small ammount of top end and throttle response in one of these pipes compared to the stock pipe? Thanks, and sorry for the long post!!

jared - what u are asking in relation to acceleration vs top speed regarding the gearing and pipe cannot happen. You have to sacrafice one to get the other.

As for the engine - to switch it to a pull start requires a Pull start ($28), a new back plate($12), and a new rear crankshaft($26). For a few bucks more you can get a starter box. How good is the deal on the OS? OS has incentives going on right now for all the CV-R mills. You can get a brand new .12CV-R now for only 90.00 and the CV-RX for 120.00 - might be a better way to go.

I found the engine it is a cv-r for 89 dollars. i think i am going to wait on the engine for a while. It is a little bit to much for all that. I will just wait till my engine i have now goes. What kind of pipe do you reccomend? Would the new drake pipe make a difference? Would i be able to notice a small ammount in speed or exceleration or smoother throttle? What is the pitch and ammount of teeth on the stock spur gear? I think i am going to go down a few teeth for higher speed.

pipes and what not are going to show minimal gains if any. the only thing that is going to drastically change acceleration or top end will be a new engine, or gearing.

Try putting a slide carb on that puppy.... Made a world of difference on mine... I believe I used an OS 10c carb, and the Losi website or manual shows how to set up the slide carb configuration. The Drake Kit I believe comes set up for a slide...

imbroken - i forgot about that. your engine is the bomob with that slide carb!

man that thing was fast!
