Anybody switch over to a pull starter for the LST?

Guess not.

Are you having problems with the rotary-starter, or do you just prefer a pull start? The only thing for me with the rotary-starter is it grinds against my tuned pipe a little.

I was having problems with it. I think the battery in the starter may have started to run down. It would spin in the backplate, but the engine would not turn over. It would turn over without the plug in however. I thought I may have toasted the one-way but the truck had only 5 tanks thru it so I was perplexed. I gave it another shot the next day with a fresh battery and it fired right up which leads me to believe it must have been a low starter battery. Anyone else have this happen?

I went ahead and picked-up a pull-start for it just in case.

pull start

I don't have a LST yet, but plan to get one soon. I put a pull-start in my t-maxx because the electric start was more hassle than what it was worth. It was always just one more thing to lug with me, and more batteries to have to worry about keeping charged. How much did you pay for the pull start?

Rob,
The problem is the oneway bearing, it is slipping. to much oil from the fuel is getting in the bearing causing it to slip. This is a common problem with high oil content fuels Like Blue Thunder. I had the same problem, I cleaned out the oneway with motor spray, then changed fuels to WHIGHT LIGHTNING now no slippage.

Yeah, I know it is the one-way slipping. It did it at the West Coast Bash and all agreed. It did work after sitting for awhile though.

I plan on switching to a pull starter because I just don't want to hassle with charging the battery for the starter.

I just got a pull start. I didn't put it in yet because my one way is slipping. I don't want to give it a pull if its not going to catch. I'm using Blue Thunder. Should I switch fuels? Is White Lightning better for the oneway?

Is there a bigger badder engine for the LST. Is there a bigger faster truck than the LST?

i have had the same problem with the one way bearing slipping. got a half gallon of sidewinder 20% though it. all my oneway bearings are slipping. but that is all my hobby shop carries. and also my LST isn't shifting into second gear. whether i have it in low or high. and it is leaned out enough to shift . the rev's are up there man. anyone else out there with the same prob???
thanks.

muskie

i mean my one way bearings in all my other starters. such as the rotostart for my savage and pull starter for my picco.

I have one in mine and it works great . It is a whole lot eaiser than carrying that
roto start

For the tranny to shift all you have to do is go and back in the screws all the way and back em out 5 turns make sure you do both screws the same amount of turns and also make sure thier is no oil or contaminents on the assembly, most of the time it shifts so fast that you will not notice or it shifts right at the acceleration Max
