I just bought a Savage x ss kit that I'm about to start assembling. As you know, it comes from the factory with a pull start. I've always liked the idea of pull start, but I've been getting used to the Traxxas EZ-Start. Has anyone gone to roto-start on there savage? How does the pull-start work on the savage, like say if the tune is just a lil off will I be able to get it cranked? Should I go with the Roto-Start until I get used to tuning it and stuff? If it was your truck, would you go with roto or pull start?

I have always been partial to the pull-start on my Savage.

Mainly because I only needed to carry the igniter around in case I needed to re-start for some reason.

It always started on the 1st or 2nd pull once primed. Once it got warmed up, it would always start on the 1st pull. I was using the S25 mill at the time.

Alright thanks for the info. I really like the idea of not having to lug around a starter. I hate it when I flip over, take off running to get it on its wheels, then it dies when I'm almost there and I just ran across the field and left my starter on the tailgate, so I have to lug it all the way back. Seems to happen everytime, I've discovered that if I bring my starter it doesn't die, it's like black majic. But the one time I leave it, it's gonna die quicker than hell.

Get yourself a large in-line fuel filter like the one by Dynamite or Kyosho.

It gives you a little more lid time so you can get to your rig when you flip it.

I got about a foot of extra line coiled up behind the rear shock tower. Gives me a good 45 seconds of lid time lol. No ill effects from the length, at least not that I can see. I'm getting temps of 220, max so far is 250 but I was running through thick grass :)

I've got a dubro that I got from my LHS. It's a screen style though so I'm wanting to order a dynamite. Anyway, I've gotten better with my driving so I haven't been flipping it a lot like I was when I first got it and I was driving with stock suspension settings, so I haven't noticed if the run time is a lot longer, but I saw how Rolex has a clear filter for lots of extra capacity along with the big daddy, so that's what I'm going to do eventually.
