on my maxx I have a sirio with a pullstart...it has good compression when i pull sometimes and others the cord just pulls and does not move the engine. Any ideas, is there a simple rebuild for this or do I buy a new one?

HELP

ps. what throttle servo do you use my hi-tec is shot and I need a new one for this overhaul I'm doing.

thanks:trashed:

easiest solution i have come up with for this problem is to remove the pull start, clean it, clean it again, then clen it one more time. it's the stupid one way bearing slipping so make sure it's clean and the shaft is clean. then re-assemble and it hopefully will work. good luck.

btw the stuff i've used to clean mine has been everything from electrical contact cleaner/degreaser to alcohol to prestone carb cleaner. they all pretty much worked the same :P

ok, i'm re-posting with updated info because i realized that what i said even though technically correct can cause some problems down the road. dont worry if you only cleaned it once or twice it should be ok.

the problem still is that oils and stuff is getting on the one way bearing and causing slippage. however the solution has changed a bit. if you clean it dont go spraying contact cleaner or stuff inside. i way this because i tore down an engine today and realized that there is a gasket in there or probably an o-ring on some. this is the reason i changed my mind. if you just go spraying stuff in there over and over it could cause one of those things to dry out and rot, this would be a bad thing. so my revised solution is to tell you to tear it all the way down. take out the bearing and make sure you remember which way it is in there and clean it outside of all that stuff so that, then use a rag and alcohol and clean off the shaft too. so basically i said all that just to say use caution around the seals :P
