I have the stock roto-start on my sav, would a pull-start make my life easier or should I stick with the roto-start?
 
eather way they are both owb killers so take your pick.but IMO i whould go with the PS.

Or look into geting a bump starter
 
I'm very happy with the roto-start, never got a problem with it, maybe I'm lucky.
 
Just go with whats easier for you. I personally like the roto-start have had no problems with it at all.
 
I like the ps just because it's one less thing to carry around. Works fine for me.
 
the reason i want the pull-start is because i want less 2 carry arround, i just want 2 know if their are any common problems with the ps that would be apprechiated. P.S., can someone send me a link 2 a bump starter, i've neaver heard of that before.

there isnt a lot of problems with the pull start besides if you have a big engine i.e. .26,.25,.27 and up you might have an easier time brekain the string and get blisters due to more compression. but other than that i love the pull start.

What I noticed when I was at the HPI challenge with my Savage in the sun, the pull start pulled very easy since the engine was heated up.
 
yea, every engine easier to start when its warm, to bad rc engines don't have a choke switch like weedwackers and stuff.
 
I like the pullstart because it lets me feel what is going on inside the engine. With a pullstart you will know when your engine is starting to flood out. This allows you to take the proper steps to clear the flood without breaking the one-way bearing.
 
If you have got a .26 engine, keep the rotosart. i've already broken 2 HPI pullstarters, and i am about to break the third one, because the pullstarter is slipping from time to time (does anybody knows why? Any help would be appreciated). So i'd keep your rotostart :)

One-way bearing.

Sounds like you are probably pulling the starter when the engine is flooded.

its probably your one way bearing slipping take it out and clean it then put i little 3 in one or wd40 then put it back it should be ok!!
i like a p.s less crap to haul around and need not worry about a battery dieing!!
 
here's a tip..

i have a pull start on a mach 26 and my old 21 and have never broken any part of them and the reason is because when i start the eng,i loosen the plug a touch.A simple solution to a number of possible breakages.And when the eng has started,just re tighten it.

if the engine is properly tuned and well taken care of.. either will work...
I personally like the pull start always get my engine running by the 2nd pull no more..
I've had the roto start..
it was nice but sucked when the battery ran out..
so I ditch it..
Since my engine are tuned right no blister here

hey guys do you know the best kind of roto start for a mach 26 ?? just had the conversion for a maxx
