this dam ntruck. first the knot wasn't tied tight to the pull and came off, and i fixed it and double knotted it. now the whole --- cord came out the motor. what to do with this junk sitting next to my t-maxx junk?

and damn that pull start rips the ---- skin off my hands. i see why people go to roto start systems.-----.

pull starts on any engine suck just go for a roto start it will save on down time and save your hands

Ok for starters your title could be better so younger members don't need to use their imagination on it.

If your cord is done SkyMaxx may be able to help you out with it so PM him. Other than that I recommend another pullstart or go get a Hotbodies Rotostart. Heard that HB ones are better than the HPI version. I personally like Pullstarts myself. I think that if your cord came out completely than you pulled to far. A good tug of around 8- 12 inches is good. Anthing more is too much. If it is not starting check the following:

Fuel, is it fresh and is it flooded in the engine? Is your ignitor charged?

Spark, Is it the right plug and is it still glowing bright orange?

Air, Is your needle setting correct?

THe three major ingredients to get an engine started. Just need to get them right.

Let us know

i have a nitro star.25 engine in my buggy and i just use a good leather gardening glove to start it up when its giving me trouble. I used to get blister from that hing like crazy but the glove helps alot havnt had one since. Also for any one who has a pull start you should heat the engine with a hair dryer before even trying to start it. Heres the stepl i do to start in my engine 1. Prime the exhaust to get fuel to the engine. 2. put the hair dryer on it and get it real warm. 3. leave the glow plug igniter on the plug for about 1 minute. 4. Starts right up one time i started it with one pull and i was off so try all these tricks. And dont just use the hair dryer in the winter it helps all year round. Sorry for the long post hope it helps though.

I know what you mean about the raw nuckles lol I've came in bleeding a couple times yanking on that thing hehe. The other night I was changing the flywheel on my motor and I took off the pull start so I could keep the motor from turning so I could get the flywheel bolt off anyway the wheel inside the pull start stuck to the one way bearing and the retract spring came shooting out, now that is very FRUSTRATING.. I tried to get it back together and right when I thought I had it back in boing it would pop out again. I was just about to throw the thing in the Trash and asked my wife to try it she has way more patience then me! after about 20 minutes she got it back together for me anyway if you take it apart be carefull and try not to uncoil the recoil spring. Good luck

Thats good to know about the hair dryer I usally spend a while trying to get my Maxx to start I will try that trick next time :)

ok, this is what i do. losen the glow plug a bit, this will give it a little less compression. make sure you tighten it back though. also use bathroon cord as its stronger than the pull start stuff

the spring broke where it connects around the piece that holds the shaft. can i take the broken piece off and patch it. need help here as i have no clue what I'm looking here to do.

the spring that wraps around the inner part of the rip cord broke. i took that broken piece off and bent a new piece (had to un-ravel it) of the spring to fit in the slot, raveled the spring back in it's place (real pain took 20 minutes) put it back together and it seems to be working fine. I'm going to loosen the glo as it's easier to pull the cord. let just hope it last. i only got through a half a tank before it broke. the rich mixture kept dieing after running for a minute or two. i dont even think i got the thing warmed up completely at all today.

oh and yes the K4.6 is a rappin motor that certainly screams like savage a beast. my futaba s9450 servos are quick as life. i like this xs3 radio. lots of features thats goona take time to understand and how to use them when to use them.

zandor pm me info on how you did your break in. you mentioned you adjusted the idle. did you lean it?
