proline rock-tek weight system

hey hey, i picked up a set of the njew weight system. it looks cool and seems to work.
I've ran into a few issues so far however.
I've tried 3 sets of wheels and have yet to find one that actually fits the insert.
you replace the inner ring with the tek's ring.
treal weighted rims didnt work
2 amazon sets of chineaseum rims wont work,
they all just refuse to connect.
I'm currently watching videos on assembly instructions in the hopes of finding someone building them with a set of rims i can get behind.
I'm assuming it would work well with the proline wheels, but i can't find a material list and honestly feel like its janky to buy plastic rims considering the abuse i subject my poor trucks to.

the videos all mentioned ssd rims and vanquish, i have no vanquish rims, but i DOOOO have a set of SSD rims. throwing them on to have a complete set, I'm a little sad the rims i got specifically for the truck wont work on the inserts.

From what little I've seen of those, they seem like a solution looking for a problem. There were already a bunch of different ways to add weight to the wheels for crawlers. Just my $.02.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
SO THEY DONT TELL YOU UNTIL YOUVE ALREADY BOUGHT AND TRIED TO INSTALL THESE, BUT THEY oops are designed for AXIAL trucks. so my comp fox? no good. they wont fit and the tire rubs.
when i messeged them their response was I'm sure someone will make an adapter soon, vanquish already has one maybe element is working on one...

seriously wtf.... I'm salty af over here. i think I'm gonna be able to make them halfway work. but if i had known prior to purchase i would have saved myself some money.

i would highly recomend NOT getting these inserts unless it is going onto an axial or a vanquish. just sayin

Imho, sell them, cut your losses and move onto a less gimmicky and proven product

after tinkering i 10000000% agree. these are fancy paper weights. they seem cool. they look nice, but the more i get into them they worse they get

they are not sealed so debris WILL get into them
the bearings have no protection
you lose the ability to use silicone inserts and are restricted to the thin foam they provide

they seem like a good neat idea, but my brass rims weigh more and perform the same as far as i know.
theres little magntes that are required to keep the wheel centered. i drive like a madman.. you think leaves and sticks arent going to get stuck in them? definately will.
and when that happens the weights just free float. yes gravity will pull them to the lowest point, but when they get worn in and say a few drops of weater get into it to form some rust. now I'm screwed!!

10/10 would NOT recomend the proline rock tek inserts for the majority of uses.

someone like @MVRCA who keeps his trucks in pristine condidtion, running in dry environments with very little debris would recieve a LOT more benefit than my creek running log jumping trail truck will

as you can see in the pic there just isnt enough clearance for the top magnets to reach over to make contact with the magnets inside the wheel
and when the small magnets are properly placed the wheel wont go on

i ended up flipping the magnets up to a barel reachable position.
it SEEMS to be holding for now

Honestly a set of heavy brass knuckles would be the best bet, you're talking a couple millimeters in weight locations. I don't see any real gains from these.

100% agreed, i have tried multiple different systems, the classic brass knuckles, hubs, and a few other pieces just work well and is what ill be going back to.

i do want to try thewm with a set of wheels with a different offset. that may help and could potentially make them more useful.

as of now their just gimmicky in my personal experience

These things look good in theory, but like most, keep it simple. Simple just works and does not break. Can't break a hunk of brass bolted on your axles.

These just arrived at my local hobby shop here in Canada.

Dang, that type of money as Canyon Crawler mentioned in his PT 1 review video, could buy you alot.

Full set of metal wheels from a place like SSD and tires from PL or JCI would run you around 160 + tax and I think you would notice a much higher performance gain than just taking a stock rig and putting these on it.
