Yea, well said racer. When I bought mine, it would go into reverse no prob. But it wouldn't come out unless I walked to the truck and manuelly took it out myself. Like racer said IMO, its better without it. I figure for the bashing I do, (mostly tracks and big parking lots), I didn't need the hastle of messing with it all the time. It's all a matter of opinion I guess.

tranny

so i took the tranny apart, checked all the gears.. and bearings.. put it all back together... hopefully i did it right.... lol... now what??? where do i get the FOC from also... figure you guys are both right... i'll learn to be a better driver if i know i can't easily get myself back out of those sticky situations....:\

You can get the foc from your lhs. Or any rc dealer. If you do get it, leave your tranny off (as you'll be diving in there again,) if you're not purchasing it,(which only costs around 12 bux), put your tranny back on and jump into another section of the truck. Make sure when you put the 2 tranny "halfs" back together, that your shaft spins real nice n free. You don't want any binding. Should have good solid mesh throughout the gears.:D

roller??

:)so my spur gear has one tooth that looks like it has had a bit off grinding on it?? do i replace the whole thing??? its only one tooth... ??? I've put a bid on a tmaxx on ebay too... what is a reasonable price to pay for a roller?? its got everything on it its just not running as it too needs a new spur gear???:\

Yea, get a new spur!!!!!! Lol. I keep like 5 extra spurs in my field box. Ya never know when you're gonna strip one out. I run an 18 tooth clutch bell, with a 54 tooth spur. But that's up to you. Not too sure what a good price for a roller is. But do me a favor???? Don't run that Tmaxx with that bad spur! Lol. It's only a 2 dollar part;). Buy a hundred of em'. Lol

lol... just bought a pack off of ebay... and a new wiring harness for the ez start.. and a new starter motor.... and heaps of other stuff... lol...

Nice work so far SteveRevo! That is pretty impressive for a noob. As far as a screws go, when I rebuilt my Maxx I got a completely new screw kit off eBay. You get all the screws necessary for a new build with no worries over stripped heads and such. Good luck and keep us "posted" (lol).

Ok so here are some photos of the girl after i took her completely apart and cleaned her all up... pulled apart the tranny and checked all the internals... worked out what i could see needed replacing... but without having a motor i'm riding blind as to what i need to get her running... and put her all back togethor... which i later decided was a bad freaking idea... cos then i got on ebay... and OMG!! half a paycheck gone and a list building already for next week... can anyone tell me the pro's and con's of aluminum?? please dont tell me its absolute crap though cos i've just spent a shite load of money on lots of shiny new bits n pieces.... i went with the 68t spur 20t clutch gear ratio as noone one here answered what the best combination/ratio was to run on the girl but going by what my partner had told me about the ratio on his revo that seemed to be the best combination for acceleration??? so its not gonna be a shelf truck, I'm going to learn to drive it properly, when i finally get al my bits n get it going n tuned properly... but it doesn't mean it can't look good out there!! so this is what i've bought for her in the last 5 days...

SA = Silver Aluminum (or shiny!! lol... hey I am still a girl!!)
** = Sorry if i dont name the parts exactly right but thats ebays fault not mine... I swear....

- SA Chassis (extended body)
- SA Full Suspension Arm Set
- SA Shock Springs x8
- SA Front & Rear Shock towers
- SA Underbody Chassis Bars **
- SA Front, Rear & Centre Skid Plates
- SA Lower Chassis Brace **
- SA Front & Rear Bumper Brace **
- SA Servo Skid Protector
- SA Fuel Tank Skid Protector (will these fit any size tank??)
- SA Throttle Servo Mount
- TRAXXAS TRX 3.3 Racing Engine w upgraded Flywheel & Carbie
- Performance Air Filter & Oil
- EZ Start Starter
- 68T Spur Gears
- 20T Clutch Bell
- 3.3 Tuned Exhaust Pipe
- 3.3 Disk Brake Kit...

now for it all to arrive!!! Mua hahaha...
Any advice welcome!!!

Wow that's a lot of aluminum! Ok I'm not sayin that the alloy stuff is crap. Just yet. Is it from Team Integy? If it is wellll let's just say that a lot of guys on here don't care much for thier stuff myself included. The thing about alloy stuff is that it adds weight and the more weight you add the more the performance suffers. I try to keep as much aluminum off my rig as I can. the only aluminum stuff on mine is the bulkheads and the shocks www.newersmodels.com is where i got the bulks from and the shocks are www.teambluestar.com. I went with rpm stuff for the suspension. I highly recommend the tru-track for the rear. It eliminates the rear toe links and permenatley sets the rear toe at 1 dgree negative to elminate bumpsteer plus the wheel bearings are larger.

and headed outside to break in this bitch... set everything up nice and close.. easy to reach and get to incase i needed to reread anything without greasing up my manual... all excited... got it to start easy.... BUT the bloody thing took off backward at 100 miles an hour into the wall and tore 4 teeth off my spur gear... and i dont have any spares until more arrive... Steve arrived home to me sitting on the porch with an alcoholic beverage and a snide remark of "and it all begins!!" he thought it was pretty funny even though he says hes proud of me for ripping it all apart and putting it back togethor at all, let alone right... i think he was secretly happy that i didnt have a clean and easy run as he has had to pull his revo apart and put it back togethor more times in the past month than i can count on two hands... i hear you all sighing... ( "Oh Noobs..." ) but never fear... I'm going to the hobby shop in the morning to buy myself a new spur gear cos I'm not waiting for my postie... he never comes before midday... This Maxx will not break me!! I WILL BREAK HER... in hopefully ... not just break her.. haha... wish me luck... goodnight... Trace:\

Next time before you start it turn your throttle trim all the way so the brakes are engaged. It may still move on you but it wont take off like a rocket. Oh and I think somebody on here told you to ditch the reverse didn't they? Hey we've all been there this is part of the hobby my T-MAXX 4908 and my SAVAGE X have pissed me off more than some women i've had in my life. (got a good one now shes gettin a T-MAXX next month). But I still wouldn't trade them for anything! By the way I bet you got some killer bashing spots down there in Aussie land. I always wanted to go there, ever since i saw Mad Max and Mad Max2 (we call it the road warrior here in the states but it's Mad Max 2 to me).

Foc

Hey there... yeah they were great movies werent they... and yes we have some great bashing places and also some amazing indoor and outdoor tracks for the nitros... i have about 6-7 nitro tracks within an hour of my house... very lucky... someone did tell me the foc would make it lighter and less shifting problems obviously... and I've got a FOC on order but for now I've decided to keep it on as being a noob driver... (have driven steves revo once.. lol) i think i might need it for a little while atleast... off to go get my new spur gear now and then will give it another go... Trace..:)
