When choosing the engine, remember that a true BB engine like the Axial .28 you mentioned will not fit that chassis.
You would need an aftermarket extended chassis, or a mono block to fit a true BB at the least.
The mid block engines like the Picco red dot or the O.S. 21 would be a better choice if you intend to use the stock chassis.

Check out my build thread, I dropped the Picco .26 in mine and went with the FLM chassis...If you want to do some good upgrades for a GOOD price check out this.

The company is no longer around but the parts in this kit should not give you any problems. It would allow you to drop in a BB motor and do any other kind of mods you want to do. I have a crap ton of upgrade parts for the maxx from when I first had it that I no longer use from my build. If your interested in taking them as a lot I can work up a price for you.

Well I did intend to use the chassis that I had. I would like to have a true big block. Ill look into those other motors. I've got a buddy who loves his picco red dot. Maybe ill try and pick up a savage for a true big block build.

All put together. Only thing is throttle link and center driveshafts. I know someones got a way to make a homeade linkage. Any suggestions? I've been looking around the house for ideas?? I'm really itching to run this truck as I've had it for a month or so and have not even ran it!!

Chevy turn the throttle servo around so the servo's splined shaft is by the trany & not the shock tower.

You can make your own linkages out of 2-56 linkage rods and a pair of "Z" bend pliers...As stated above, your throttle/brake servo is backwards.

I realized this :D it was a very long day when I put it together that day.
