Well I sold my traxxas boss vxl car and picked this up instead. Got metal cvd's. Robinsons spurr gear. Claims theres robinson gears in new tranny. He gave me some tranny gears with the truck. I got 2 sets of rims and tires. The only thing I have to get is a few scews and a muffler. I also got a few extra a-arms still in package. And a few sets if diff gears.

Any sugestions for the build?

IMO look into an OS for the powerplant. Something like the .18 I assume it has the FOC kit, outside of that if it aint broke dont fix it. Clean her up and polish it some, get it runnin, break it, and upgrade.

Well the steel CVDs are good that you have. I agree with phins on an OS powerplant and cleaning. You already have the 3.3 trans with forward only. So other than the engine upgrade get you some RPM a-arms and maybe aluminum bulkheads and skid plates later. Maybe even some RPM ball joint carriers and 17mm hub adapters. For now just get a good engine and have fun with it. Upgrade it as you break it.

Well I was talking to the lhs guy and I've always wants a big block maxx. I want a good torque motor. (ik I can also get more torque from gear ratio) but he was thinking the axial .28 ?? Anyone used this motor? I dont have a problem with an os motor.

Also mods if wanted to move to the "builds" area. Sorry thought about that after I posted this one.

i would opt for the aluminum bulks why its apart. Throw some heavy diff oil in front and rear.

Upgrades will come. Lol

New fuel lines
Odd and end screws.
Later a new silverado body.

If you plan on running at any amount of speed, those swampers will be rough on drivetrain components from the vibrations.

Not a whole lot of speed runs gonna come out of this. More bashing in dirt, mud, ect

The bigger/heavier the tires the more rotating mass which will = less lowend power for bashing and it will take longer to reach topend speeds. They are a nice meaty tire but I think a little much for a bashing application. I had a set of IMEX Dirt Dawgs and they worked great. I now have a set of Badlands that work awesome too. The only issue I have with them right now is there is a lot of sidebite with them so I flip pretty easy right now. Good traction though!!

The swampers are for the mudbogs. We have quite a few mudbogs where I'm at (normaly one every weekend during the summer) its fun to take the maxx out there and put around. Few of us take our maxx's. And at the moment id rather tear up my maxx than my real truck. I dont think I can strap by daughter, girlfriend and I on my tmaxx to go places. Lol

Nice looking rig, and I'm with ya brother not everyone wants to go fast, as theres a class for rock crawling theres also some guys who like mud crawling.
And as phins suggested an OS. is a great engine for low end power, the axial can be real finiky bout tuning and that aluminum stuff is hard to keep shiney when exposed to lots of water (unless you enjoy tear downs and buffing) Have fun

Well I dont want something thats way complicated to tune since I'm not that great at tuning as it is. And low end is what I'm looking for. ill look into the os line. But the tear down isnt a big deal I enjoy working on my rig.

Thinking about going to a pullstart system. Only carry a glow ignitor around.

Go pull start and push glow. There great and means u don't have to carry anything but ur controller

Had a hump pack laying around. I get paid thursday. But have been itching to work on the maxx. I did get the ez start hooked up to see if id turn over. Fired right up. No hesitation. For some reason it was very loud without a muffler lol lol
