My brother has a losi crawler and he has a 27t motor in it and he is using a sidewider and is having problems with it. I have programed it and for a brushed motor and a lipo. he is using a 2 cell lipo. the problem he is having some times when he plug the battery in it dosent work it just beeps, it also acts like it dosent have enough power to crawl up any thing kind of like its binding up and you have to pick it up and then it will run.. and hes esc gets hot and then stop working..

Ahhhh the losi. theres a chance that his throttle trim is set a little to much one way so that its not sitting it nuetral enough for the sidewinder to want to fully engage. He should really go to 3s lipo too with those worm gears. What servo is on it and is he running a bec?

a 27T seems like a rather hot motor to be running in a crawler. I wouldn't think anything lower than a 35T would be usable.

How hot is the motor getting?

pull the motor off and spin the spur by hand. how hard is it?

Actually in a losi Crawler I am guessing it is the 10th scale, you need a faster motor and more voltage to get good wheel speed out of them, alot of guys in my area run Traxxas 550 21 turn motors with pretty good results, but watch the motor closely because they are known for burning up motors, the best way to go with the Losi's is to get a brushless set up like the Novak Goat 3s with a 18.5 brushless motor.

maybe so. I guess it depends on his pinion as well. I have seen guys run everything from 55T cans on 3S up to 17.5's on 4S.

I certainly agree that he needs to get up to 3S with that truck no matter what motor.

The best thing to do with the losi is to get a MOA kit for it. You can run two 35's or 45's on 3 or 4s and be good to go. All extra that your brother would need other than two 540 motors and the Eritex MOA kit would be a dig switch like a PunkRc dig or even a Rc4wd dig.

He needs to get a bec then, bad. 423oz at 6v NEEDS to get 6v. Good chance that thats why it seems like theres no power at times.

Get this one. I assume you guys have the castle link already to program the sidewinder on your computer? You will use it for programming the bec too.

alright i put the bec on today and now the esc and motor are getting hot and it dosent want to crawler.. it works great for about 5 mins and the motor gets hot and the esc gets hot to.

Did you disconnect the pos+ wire coming from the ESC to the receiver, that could cause some issues if not, as for the motor getting hot that is very common in the Losi crawlers, and you really have to watch them closely, I would recommend driving it for around 6 minutes at a time like you would at a comp and check the motor temp then, you might need a smaller pinion to reduce the load on the motor or go with a different motor all together.

i was under the impression that it was the truck that had no power, not necessarily the steering servo although i agree he needed a bec.
