I took my savage out yesterday to the track, I put two tanks thruogh and went home later I put on the new Motosaver hiperformance air filter and tried to run it again at first it started but now the sound of the engin running is more than half softer than what it was at the track now it seems to go loud and suddenly soft again, and it idles but when I try to rev it it dies and there is a lot of oil coming out the exhaust but it ran just fine at the track did not overheat or anything? What could be the problem:shrug:

speratic idling could mean you have an air leak.

a lot of oil coming out of the pipe means its running rich...try leaning out the HSN a bit and see if that fixes it.

Thats the thing, its already set to run at 240 and it still has a lot of oil coming out. It sounds as if its flooding then stalls, its definetly not the glow plug.

I am going to check it again tonight I'm thinking it could be to much oil in the pertol

What kind of air filter is it? Is it foam or a paper K&N style filter? That could be your problem.

Temp doesn't really matter as long as you have plenty of smoke comming out of the tail pipe.

di you squeeze the exess oil out of the foam?? sometimes the over oil them from the factory .. that would make it run rich..

Have you re tuned the engine after installing the new air filter??
If you didn't you will have to.

sounds like the HSN is too rich, thats why it dies when you give it gas, and your LSN is too lean, this is what is keeping your temps up, anyone else have any ideas??

I had the same problem with my Sirio 27 and the Motor saver outa the package. Truck would idle and act as if it was running rich lots of smoke and very oily exhuast. but in fact what I did was clean the filter got all the factory oil out of it and used a K&N Filter Charger kit to re-oil it but only put 3-4 drops in the filter then rinse it in water and of course dry it. Filter will have planty of oil to catch dirt and it will also have enough not to dump oil in the carb. It worked for me and I have no problems with the filter now (keep in mind with the little oil though you will need to clean it very often)

Thanks guys I cleaned the filter out and re-oiled it it runs pretty good again, must have been to much oil in the filter. Thanks for teh help!!
