I'm re-tuning my t-maxx 2.5 for the winter conditions. But now I need to make it idle very high to get it to stay running, and that is causing the rc to jolt a little.

It's also not a smooth idle, it goes from ok to almost stalling to fast.

Any ideas ?

Well you don't give much info there but it could be an air leak. Also a commonly overlooked winter procedure is richening the needles....alot!! I need about 5-5.5 turns out on a 3.3 when it's 30f out. That's for the high needle you will also need to richen the low just a bit. You should never have to increase the idle on a good engine. Of course you should check the clutch, glow plugs, and fuel too but you knew that right?

There's a good write up on here as well as you tube(squirrelod)about diagnosing and sealing engines. Also if it's about 40 degrees f or lower you should think about wrapping the engine head but I would only do that if you have a temp guage. I guess as long as you start out with a rich setting and tune for performance a broken in motor will be ok at 180 degrees vs 250.
