Ok i have the older tmaxx truck with the .15.And i bought a new pro.15.but my question is this. Got the new motor today from local hobby shop and it has a long crank which wasn't the one i ordered. And the old one had the standard crank. Will this motor fit right in as far as the clutch bell and flywheel and such.I'm kinda in a pickle because i bought the truck used.but in great shape. This is a christmas gift for my son.And the hobby shop said if i ordered another one i wouldn't get it untill after christmas. he has electrics and have never ran a nitro. So wanted to get a nice used one for him to see if he likes it before buying him new.If the flywheel and clutch will bolt right on great but if not what do i have to do or need to get it together. Thanks in advance.

You will need this (replace long crankshaft) to make it work correctly without modifying and purchasing additional parts to fit the long crank.

I have several used short Pro.15 cranks in good condition, I could send you 1 as a gift but I will not be home until the 20th so I couldn’t promise it would arrive before Christmas.

The short crank version uses a clutch/flywheel nut that has an extension for the clutch bell bearing to ride on. On my .18SS engine,I cut the crank off right after the clutch nut threads and made it a direct fit. If you have a different nut without the extension, you may be able to make it work without cutting the crank.

The long crank is way too long to work on a TMaxx; it would have to be cut to clear the transmission, been there done that.
Cheapest and easiest solution is to just swap the cranks.

I told the guy at the hobby shop it wouldn't fit and he said yes it will. And i'm a newbie at it.

It can easily be cut down. put a nut on the shaft that will cover about 6 threads, run it all the way down, then just cut what sticks out off. When you back the nut off it will repair the end of the threads and you can then bolt all your stuff on no problem.

It’s been a while since I used/modified a Pro.15 long crank but if I remember correctly the long crank version doesn’t have enough threads on it for the clutch nut to cinch down tight on the flywheel without shimming the flywheel too far forward to be able to set the CB/SG mesh???
It may be another crank I’m thinking of but I know there is an issue you have to address when cutting down the long crank when fitting it to a TMaxx.
Also, there are 3 different crank lengths for that engine. Short, long and IPS. IPS will work if cut but I don’t think the long will due to the length of the non-threaded section of the shaft.

I highly recommend you just cut the crank short. If you have the tools necessary, should take less than five minutes.
