Hmm for up here in Canada that would be half off if it was in Canadian dollars, but seeing how it is in US dollars that is like $140 Canadian. For $50 more I could buy one from my lhs. Got to love those inflated prices Traxxas put's on their stuff.

Well your suggested retail of $200.00 on the TRX 2.5 is over inflated. Come on $200.00 US for the same engine here in Canada is $200.00 which is only about $140.00 US. So as you see your price in US dollars is quite inflated.

Alein,

I believe you and many others are missing the key word here MSRP, or better known as Manufactures Suggested Retail Price. EVERY MSRP I've seen has always been much more then what the item really sells for retail. The MSRP is just that...a Suggested price, nothing more nothing less.

Traxxas is giving this offer of 50% off based of the MSRP, not retail. There's a big difference in the two, there's nothing over inflated about it.

However after viewing Traxxas's website I did notice this: "50% off of the current retail price of the new engine." This I find pretty mis-leading, as I've already pointed out the difference between MSRP and Retail, and by stating 50% off of the current retail price is in fact the Tower, or other hobby shop prices...MSRP is no longer.

Then again thats just my 2cents.

suggested retail is not retail, my LHS has the 2.5 for $129, and the .15 for $79, what is the incentive for trading in????, I can go buy a new motor and the put a piston and sleeve in my old one and only be into both $150 so for $45 more than your price I have a new 2.5 and a new .15,

Sorry WoodiE not trying to start a flame war.

I understand the difference between Retail and MSRP but when you go to their site look under

"What Is It"
Here is part of the lines quoted from the Traxxas Engine Replacement
"The Lifetime Engine Replacement Plan provides an easy means for Traxxas customers to exchange a worn out, burned up, or used up nitro engine for a brand new engine at a cost of 50% off of the current retail price of the new engine."

From that people would look at the retail price not the MSRP. Also I do not believe that it states it anyway on the page that it is by the MSRP nor is it in the PDF file that you can download for the Exchange. So it is very misleading of them to go around and say it's MRSP when on there web site it is stated Retail Price.

Just my 02¢ again on this

well the MSRP is always bs because if you took 1/2 off of the Titans MSRP, it would be the price for it now. Some items MSRP are really inflated so I'm not complaining about this engine. The MSRP for a:
Titan-$850
Savage-Over$600
MP 7.9 Kenai-Over $1500
etc.
etc.
So, I guess if you really think about it, the dealers are really giving us a price break.
