Ok, I've e-mailed Traxxas and they told me that the WideMaxx suspension is optional for the upgrade. But without it the header hits my shock towers. I was wondering if I just got the shock towers from the WideMaxx sus. and installed if that would work. But I was also wondering about using a front shock tower on the rear.

Any extra information on this would help a lot. Traxxas is starting to piss me off since they went chicken poop and offered the stupid TRX .25 upgade without mentioning everything else to to convert it. Might as well buy a new truck instead of converting it. I think a bunch of people should write and call them telling them how stupid they were for doing that. It's about $258.00 to upgrade. I think that's bullshit.

Later.

The WideMaxx suspension is not going to solve the header to tower contact issue. The WideMaxx suspension simply provides longer a-arms to give the Maxx a wider stance (thus the name.)

As for the cost of the conversion and the intelligence behind it, I agree...but I must say that a lot of people have dumped a ton more money on upgrading their T-Maxx's than just $250. I myself had about $1000 into my Maxx prior to selling it (it was an old style Maxx.)

As for the front shock tower on the rear, they are identical in design. This would not solve the problem.

I don't have the means to do so right now, upgrade my truck, so what do you guys think I should do? Upgrade or buy a whole new truck and keep the 2.5 I have now for a spare?

I think I am gonna pack up my truck and leave it in the box for a few years until I finish with my schooling (voc. college) and get it out once I have the means to totally get into the hobby.

Most of what makes a 2.5 different than the original T-Maxx is the incorporation of a number of hop-ups that most people buy.

It has:
- a slightly thicker chassis plate (helps with chassis flex, but is nothing major)
- WideMaxx suspension (can be accomplished with RPM or ProLine arms, longer turnbuckles, and longer drive axles...all after market parts.)
- Supposedly a beefier shock tower...saw no major difference when I compared them.
- The 2.5 engine (of course) and the linkages and exhaust that go with it.
- A different paint scheme on the body.

Aside from that, there really is no major change to the truck. You could lay your truck up until it is more cost effective for you, but by the time that comes around there will be some other better ride on the market. So, I guess that leaves you with buying a new truck either now or later.

My recommendation: If you are not happy with your current truck, sell it and buy a new one. The REVO seems to be getting decent reviews. The Savage is always a great buy. You could get a new T-Maxx. The LST, MGT, and other MTs that seem to keep popping up are all looking pretty nice at the moment.

The T-Maxx was the first nitro truck I got. It's about 2 and a half years old now. I think I might buy a new one and just keep the old one for parts or something, or sell it to my friend for cheap so he can give his girls something to drive since they are interested. But I'd leave it with the Pro .15. The REVO seems cool but it's just not appealing to me at the moment and the other MT's aren't very interesting to me either. I think I am gonna leave it packed for a few years until I get a good means of pay and get a new T-Maxx and possibly a REVO. I also want to get a buggy of some sort, and/or maybe a stadium truck.

Sounds like you have a plan. Good luck with it. Just realize, that the longer you hold onto the older Maxx...the less you will be able to sell it for down the road. You may end up being stuck with it (parts locker or not.)

Maybe I'll just leave it for my shelf in the garage I don't have yet. So when people come over it'll be a conversation piece. ;) I don't think I will end up selling it. I'll just put my old Pro .15 on it since I stripped the glow plug hole and leave it for the shelf. I'm sure the RC bug has left it's impression and the infection is going dormant but it will flare back up later in life. Hehehe. But I know I will buy more nitro's later on down the road and I will be back here. I'm not sure if I will stay on RCNT or not though, I like this place too much.

It won't cost you $258 to convert to the Wide track and the 2.5! Look on Ebay for all your T-maxx part needs! You can find the 2.5 engine on there for $95 new and the wide track parts should not cost more then $50 for everything (shock towers, A-arms, turn buckles and plastic slidders). If you don't have enough to buy that stuff and you still want to get up and running you can find a TRX pro head new for $15.

I just haven't been into the hobby lately. It's the RC bug's bite is wearing off and I have put my T-Maxx to sleep for a few years. Until I get my own place and whatnot, maybe some child support, I'll revive it or buy another one. I don't like E-Bay and have never used it. I don't think I ever will either. I packed up my truck tonight and it is staying there for a long time to come.

I am not pushing Ebay but, don't knock it til you have tried it! I have bought tons and tons of stuff on Ebay without any problems and saved loads of money! :) The only thing one needs to watch out for on Ebay is sellers that don't have alot of feedback or negitive feedback.
