I am having a problem priming my engine. There are no fuel leaks and the compression on the engine is good. I think the carburetor is leaking because if the carb is off and I blow on the line from the exhaust fuel pours through it but when the engine is cranking and I put my finger over the exaust it won't prime. I removed the carb and placed my finger over the hole where the carb goes and cranked it and I could feel it sucking my finger any suggestions? If it is the carb how can I seal it?

It sounds like it might be a pressure leak in the system, very likely it's the tank. Check the o-ring on the cap and make sure it closes snug.

The tank is not leaking. Any other ideas?

I'm not suggesting leaking fuel but losing pressure. You know, it it a system under pressure supplied by the muffler.

I understand what you are saying. I blew in the fuel hose from the exhaust to the tank and put my finger over the fuel line to the carb and i could not blow any air into the tank so I am pretty sure there is adequate pressure. Any other suggestions?

Take off the air cleaner and drop some fuel directly into the carb. Try to start the car. If it starts and then stalls when the fuel is used up, you have a clogged needle or an improper setting on the needle valves.
