When I go to prime my engine, I put my finger over the exhaust and pull the pull starter, but nothing happens

Clear fuel line? Can you see if there are any bubbles in the line?
Have you tried unplugging the line from the carb and priming (Careful it might spray some fuel) if that still doesn't work, are you sure your fuel lines aren't hooked up backwards?
