guys!! i gotta huge problem with my t-maxx. i was runnin it and it was workin fine, until for some reason, the rear tires werent pulling their weight. bassically, its only 2 wheel front wheel drive now. already tried the drive shaft and its fine. and its nothing obvious. any oppinions?? please! even my local hobby shop can't figure it out!:(:(:(:(:\:(:(:(:(:(

I think we may need a little more info please.....
If you are set up stock, then when you roll the front tires the rear drive shaft should turn as well. after that comes the differential (which eventially goes bad and makes a clicking sound) and then the axles should be turning as well, next would be the hubs (they can strip)...
Where are you seeing the problem?

honestly, i dont no. i just got it and yes its stock. i have given all the info i no. sorry. ask alpinehyperlite. he's the one who sold it to me. but it wasn't broke when he did. but we have both looked at it and can't figure it out. but thats the problem. when i spin the front wheels, the bak dont turn!!

I have pulled it apart, its not the diff, they turn together at low speeds, i havent seen it run since the problem started, i am stumped.

When you spin the front wheels, it's easiest to put it on it's side so you can observe the drive line, and so the other front wheel don't turn the other way. You have to watch the moving parts when you turn the wheels. Like I said the drive line from the front should spin, next the driveline to the rear, then the axles going to the tires.
You could have lost an axle pin (that would not be very noticeable) Or you could even have something stuck in the rear axles.

thanks. nothings stuk though. we took that thing completely apart the other night! haha
ill check

Just follow what I said and find the part that's not turning in the driveline... the front driveline has to move equal with the rear on a stock Maxx. I do realize "easier said than done"

Yeah, i would say just find whats not turning. Just flip it over and spin the front wheels.

Try laying it on its roof, and turn both front wheels while keeping the rears from turning. Keep an eye on the drive train. If EVERYTHING moves but the wheels, take them off and check the hubs. If you rock the front wheels backwards then forwards, something is going to click or not move.
Try reversing the process. Hold the fronts and rotate the rears.

my buddie lost all move ment in his tmaxx and it all came down to this, Theis is a little set pin in the tranny that holds the gears to the shaft and it broke so the shaft spun freely, finally found out what that little part was in the bottem of the tranny and replaced it workes fine. The LHS had never seen one of thoes broken like that before, if your rear axl is not spinnin under pressure check that. get a tranny diagram from traxxas or your LHS

Hey man!!!!! Did you ever get the situation resolved... I just wanted to know what was wrong, since even Alpine couldn't figure it out!:contract:

drive problem

Sorry to repeat what was already said. Turn it upside down, hold the back wheels, and have someone else turn both front wheels in a forward direction. Look first at the rear center driveline of it moves look at the rear diff and make sure the pin holding the shaft to the diff is not broke. It may look like it is in there but can still be broken. If all is ok now look to see if the rear driveshafts are moving. if one of them move the pin out at the hub end of the driveshaft may be the problem and or the hexs may be stripped. Could even be the pin that the hex goes over. Now if all is still well I am curious how far you tore down the diff. I have stripped the plastic cups out a couple times and they may seem to turn when the truck was not running but under power the rear would slip. I may sound crazy but its just my 2 cents. Good luck!!
