This is my dad's latest project, converting our non-powered glider into a powered glider. We've owned this plane for probably 15 years and it's had only one flight of about 100 feet just to prove it COULD fly lol. Never got a proper flight just because we have no way of launching it (no room the bungie launch thingie).

Between me and my dad, we'll be condensing our r/c plane collection into 4 planes for flying at the field, and two foamies. I've already got my 2 meter typhoon 2+2 pattern plane, already have the yak 54f for park flying, all that's left is another plane for the flying field. Chose this glider since it's completely different than the two other planes Should be good for those nice hot days where I want to fly, but don't really feel like standing on the flight line getting sun burned. I can just sit back in the easy up's shade, sip a cool one and just do some relaxed flying. Plane should be good for probalby 20-30 minutes of flying time depending on the situation with the thermals.

It will be running a brushless motor with a 900mah li-poly pack. All that's left is to receive the folding prop and spinner from hobby-lobby, then moving the radio gear around to get the balance just right (hopefully weight won't have to be added).

So yeah, here's the pictures. Hopefully the plane will be ready to fly in 2 weeks or so.

The great thing about projects like this are that they don't cost an arm and a leg. 2m gliders aren't really expensive. And you can outfit them with a modest motor that will give enough power to get them to altitude. Then let mother nature do the rest. I hope you have a blast with it. I had thought about doing that to the last glider I had.....until I flew it into the side of my house....

That's a cool project that will be fun to fool around with. Enjoy!
