Has anyone tried these diff lock units yet? If so, what did you think?

Also, anyone else having trouble with the front diff tearing up the ring and pinion gears? My spider gears seem to wear normally.

WoW! That's one messed up pinion dude! Something isn't right......

You can also spend $1 on silly puddy and fill the diff with that. I don't know if it will lock as well if you used silly puddy and that broken gear though.

Steve you may want to pick up the heavy duty13T pinion gear from HPI will make a world of difference. Later

Hey TRD, you got a link that tells how to do and what parts are needed for the conversion??

nice pic.. from a 25rtr huh... call HPI they screwed up how they hardened the set of pinions and what you see in the pic is VERY common.. due to it.. the rear one is just as bad also... my suggestion to people on central is to goto a LHS and find a pinion with dust on the bag to get old stock of 21rtr pinions that were proper..

Thanks for your input gentlemen. I wasn’t aware that there’s a heavy duty gear set available. I guess I’ll take CRS’s advice and call HPI and get the scoop. It would be nice to know if there doing or have done anything to fix this problem. I didn’t include a picture of the ring gear but as you might imagine, it’s also toast. This happened just at the end of the first gallon I ran through it. I just finished upgrading a bunch of parts and redoing both diff’s and yes, I installed the 4 spider update with 3000wt in the front and 5000wt in the rear. Haven’t had a chance to run it yet but I plan on running the piss out of it this weekend. I guess I’ll just have to see how it holds up to the second gallon. -xmas-

The dif mod is probably on this forum also, but I know it's at savage central's site. It gives all the part #'s and prices. About $45 bucks to do both difs.
