Been i while since i started the revo buti get it running but i can only keep it running with a bit of the throttle trim holding it open. as soo as it is released it dies the idle screw is perfect but i can't remember if it is to rich or to lean for this to happen or which screw to turn please help:\

Reset the carb to factory settings and start there from a baseline. If you turn the LSN or HSN clockwise it leans out the mixture (screw goes IN farther)....it you turn it dounter-clockwise it richens the mixture (screw comes OUT farther).

you probably want to check and see if you're getting a good glow from your plug as well. could be a combination of the tune and a bad plug.

also, from your description, it sounds like it's too rich. screw in the larger of the two screws on the carb a small amount at a time until it'll stay running at idle. then get the temp up, run it easy for a little while and tune it further, if needed, for performance.

If it's been a while since you started it, you should definitely pick up some new glow plugs and fuel. I'd grab an air filter, too. Pretend you just bought it and start from the beginning.

i picked up new glow plugs and gass and air filter i have mc-8 and mc 59 wat plug should i run for 25% nitro??

You can use either one. I just picked up an MC-8 for my LST2, I also have an MC-9 and 59's.....I run Trinity Monster Horsepower 20%. You should also put a little bit of fuel down in the carb and a few drops down the cylinder head, by the piston, and then turn it over a few times to help lubricate the engine if it has been sitting for a while......like over the winter, before you try to start it and then you can do as the others have said. If that doesn't seem to work, then get back and we will do what we can to help you get it running.;)

if it has been sitting for a long time fuel could have geled up in the engine and lines so it may take awhile for all that to blow through as well. reset to close to factory settings i know on a 3.3 the high end is 4 turns out from closed but if it is a broke in motor i usually go 3 and 3/4 or 3 and 1/2 depending on the temp outside that day. the low end is 1 and 1/2 out from closed and see if it will at least try to run. with it not being ran for awhile i would say stick with the hotter plug to help blow everything out and if it keeps acting up you may have to go in and clean it up just to make sure you get the goooo out. i have seen this happen before...half your problem is the tune the other half is the fuel that was left inside the motor has turned to gel and gumming everything up. i know you will say i got all the fuel out of it...well actually no...there is always some left over that will run down and cleect in the bottom of the motor...let your motor sit for a day after you ran it out....remove the muffler header...and look inside...i bet you will see oil...it's nothing you me or anyone is doing wrong just a necessary evil when dealing with nitro.

I run an MC59 in my 3.3 on O'Donnell 20% and it runs great....a little hot, but no issues thus far. I want to try 30% Nitro in it though to see if the temps will come down a tad.

if the motor is still making good smoke and not sputtering and still runs like you want it to. i would not worry about temps. i know when i switched from sidewinder to byrons i LEANED my needles about 6 hours total on the top and about 5 on the bottom of my 3.3. but i was and have always ran 30% in my engines. before burning 30 it is custom to richen up your needles at least one full turn. this according to traxxas.

Oh I'm not really worried about the temps I'm running. It's been bulletproof through a full gallon thus far. I'd just like to see it run a tad cooler ;-) Not stressing over it though. Most of the motors I have seem to like to run 10+ degrees above the "norm"

to be honest after talking to a couple of traxxas drivers i see often in dallas the 270 is for the beginner giving them a temp not to exceede to aid in the learning to tune a motor. slayden and battiale(spelling) have both told me that they have yet to find a temp you really don't want to go over. i have seen one of there engines running around the 320 mark.

320?!?!? wow thats "cookin" i personally wouldn't let that engine run that hot, but thats just me, my picco loves temps around 255 260 and it runs like a raped ape but i know my old 3.3 like temps around 265-270 and it ran great as well and running those temps i have never EVER had a tuning issue, hope this helps

Yeah 320 is pushing it a bit. I think the 3.3 manual says don't go over 290 with it, which probably means 300 or 310 before stuff starts to wear....but 320 would be a tad too high for my taste. I run @ 280ish on mine with O'Donnell 20% and it runs mint.
