ok added some upgraded parts on my maxx over the winter. Here is my list New Era rollcage (3pt) hitec servo, RPM A-arms, Integy MSR-4 shocks, and Rd Logic cvd's, RC Raven al chassis braces, RPM 3pc skid set, and Ti bumpers. My problem is that I built the shocks w/50 weight oil last week (just checked em..they are still full) and I have trinity blue springs on the shock towers are stock w/the shocks mounted middle hole and the a-arms I have the shocks mounted on the inner most hole. Why in the world would my truck still bottom out from only around the knee drop test? I believe it was sky that said it doesn't matter what hole the shocks are in, but they are almost near vertical so they are easier to compress. I do mostly bashing, I go between asphalt and grass to dirt. Can anyone help me pls figure this out. I am goin nuts and losing my hair...(well whats left of it) Thanks in advance for any help guys.

The springs are not stiff enough and or you need a thicker oil in the shocks. I used black trinity springs and a lighter weight oil in my shocks. I would rather my truck bottoms out rather than blowing my shock towers or my a-arms.

thanks man. I thought it would be heavy enough, cause it seems some people have trucks so much heavier than mine and they run the same set up. I just moved my lower shock mount over one hole seem to help a little for now. I gotta get black springs now. thanks again.

Are those integy piggybacks? If so aren't those supposed to take a more heavy jump with load? I want the MSR5 for my MGT and the MSR4's for the maxx but I want to make sure that All I need to do is get heavier springs.

Any pics of your maxx?

Jon2 yea these are the piggyback integy's I thought they were supposed to be able to take a big jump w/a heavy load thats why I went and got them. I think right now its justa matter of fine tuning the shocks. I thought I had read somewhere people were using the same setup w/positive results but maybe I was wrong. I am goin to get trinity black springs and try those hopefully something will work. Nope no pics yet had a computer problem and it finally got fixed, still a little leary but hopefully it will work and I will get some pix up soon. Thanks.

Cool, Let me know how that works. I want to get some on the wifeys maxx cuz the ass drags every time you gune it. But it does take a beating. Love it. I look forward to the pics!

bomber runs a 21 maxx with the msr4 shocks and trinity black springs. It stands tall and doesn't bottom out very easy. I think he's running 60 weight oil. Could be 50, but not to sure.

I run with a mix of Trinity Blue and Black springs on my shocks. The silicone weight is 65wt. I also modded my shocks by adding bump stops. Guess what? No bottoming out. Mostly due to the bumpstops but that is only from 6 foot or higher on the drop test.

As long as you have built up the shocks properly, and the truck is light like you mentioned, the springs and oil weight you mentioned should be sufficient for knee height drops. I would check to make certain the shocks have the proper rebound that indicates they were built up properly. If so, then you may want to try the bump stops.

sky thanks for the info. I thought According to Integy there is supposed to be no rebound on the shocks after they are built. I thought as in most shocks that there should be some rebound. The instructions said that there is not supposed to be rebound and if there is you have to much oil. Should I try to redo them and add some extra oil? As mentioned in your previous posts I will be adding the bump stop to mine. Thanks for the help guys.

Mike O2- I've had the same problem with my maxx bottoming out. What i have is 70 wt. by associated in my shocks, It is not to hard, And if you think 70 is , ur wrong. Its just right to bash. You WILL still have some bottoming out but hey... You dont want ur truck to be to stiff or ur handlings gonna suck azz. Later

OH and Sky is right... his advice is always good 2 :)

lol, if ur truck is 20ft in the air i dont care what shock u are running, it will bottom out. to me just droppin it dont really tell u too much. but that is just me. i only run 4 shocks for racing and my truck bottoms out from about my ankles, but she sure handles good on the track.

back to the subject, when i had the piggybacks, i ran 55wt in them with 4 trinity blue's and 4 trinity black springs. worked great for big arss jumps, but when on the street it was a handful to handle when at high speeds.

Dropping it straight down is different than hitting an awesome jump, with good trajectory, and a lot of speed.

I'm with you on the shocks. No rebound. I always make sure they rebound a couple of mm, but thats it. That tells me they are full. For certain. If they dont rebound AT ALL, then its hard to say they are full. Especially with the piggybacks. Those little sponges in the resevoirs will absorb more than you think.

Depending on your maxx setup, 60-70 in the rear and 40-60 in the fronts if you are a madman on the jumps. With some STRONG springs. The black trinitys are stiff. I ran 100wt oil ONCE, and wont do it again for my offroad. Felt like they were full of sand.......

Hope it helps.
