ok i've had my savage for about a gallon and a half, after about 3 quarts the backplate came loose, not for long, but it did, now the inside of my engine is thrashed. I did the proper break in, and then some. Do you think that i should send the engine into hpi or solomly lick my wounds and dish out the money for a new engine?

It's been a gallon and a half....that's a long time. IMO within that long of a time you should have been through that entire vehicle at one time or another and threadlocked everything possible.
IMO it's your fault, not theirs. Nitro engine create crazy amounts of vibration, so things just rattle loose man. Lock Tite everything you can.

it wasn't at a gallon and a half it was at 3 quarts...about half of one after break it..then i locktited it and kept running it

I dont agree, send it back!!! If it needed loc-tite? the factory should have installed it! It seems to be a common problem with the S-25,even if you install loc-tite,HPI is repairing or replacing alota them due to the problem! makes me:puke:

just to see if that was the problem...what does the inside of a engine normally look like if the back plate comes loose and bad stuff insues?

I am sure HPI will do something for you. Send it back. It's kinda like a 'recall' for real cars, they know and will recognize the problem. Do you really have to reveal to them how much fuel you've gone through, just keep it to yourself, or else LIE.
