plastic back-plate

I removed this plastic back-plate off a LRP .28 and it has no gasket or o-ring and surely it will leak like that, i generally come across alloy back-plates with a gasket or o-ring.
Is anyone using a plastic back-plate like this?

the plate must of been changed at some time because i looked and the original plate looks alloy.

I've never seen anything like that, and reading your post had me looking suspiciously at my in the box .32 LRP.
Thankfully, it's got an alloy backplate.

the engine came in a Savage it has excellent compression and i did have a short drive.
it's only when i removed the engine for inspection that i noticed it has a plastic back-plate.
i got more LRP engines i might just use a alloy back-plate off one of them.

i have a redcat sh21 that has the exact same plastic back plate.. has only ran once since i had it but it hasn't leaked. I'd probably swap it out with the oem one if you were to run it often

i'm not bothered that's it's plastic but i can't see it not leaking without a gasket...and a o-ring is not really a good choice because it won't sit flat because the screw holes have a raised edge. i'll just borrow a alloy back-plate of another LRP.
