what would cause the chipping out of the back side of the bottom of the piston? i took a look at mine today, due to, not firing. and found that there was a chunk of the piston missing. about the size of the dot on a die! any reasons any of you can think of to explain this would be helpful!!!
 
A sloppy con rod bushing or sloppy main bearing.
Poor casting/machining.
I'd say it's a warranty claim if the engine is not too old.

That's what I was thinking too.;) Unless it's possible that something got down into the engine and caused it.:shrug:

Send it to HPI, they'll let you know what happened. They'll replace it if it was a faulty engine. If dirt got in it, you are up the creek.
