i'm putting a new crank in my trx 2.5 r , which way does the piston go into the sleeve which side should be facing the exhaust post? the open part of the skirt or the solid side ?

The open side of the skirt goes towards the crank, that way at TDC it doesn't open on the bottom side of the exhaust port. The rod also has a small hole drilled just above the bottom bearing, that has to face the crank as well so it can get lubrication between the crank pin and bearing.

use marvel mystery oil on the inside parts for lube. all so you can use permatex ultra slick engine assembly lube item #81950. it is thicker. get it at advance auto, or auto zone. it does very good at lubing parts
