Wait for other replies since I though it was McDonnel's that left the brown color.

This goes back a while so I don't remember if it's from Blue Thunder or Traxxas, but this is a clean burn from a good tune.

i would say it is too lean but i really dont know

Would say slightly to lean as its probs getting to hot and burning to hot inside

The first pic is a bit too lean, the second pic is a bit rich.
How many tanks have been run through that engine? It's hard to tell by piston color if an engine is running good or bad, one has to observe how it runs.
A new engine won't have a lot of discoloration even if it's lean.
An old engine will have some discoloration even if it was tuned perfectly all it's life.

Your piston looks good. Different fuels will leave different colors. I run Byrons 30% and my piston looks like yours does.
