I opened up my engine to clean it up, and I found my piston somehow became black, not completely, just partly. I remember Rolex said that if this happens, it's a problem. What should I do?

Oh okay. Good thing it wasn't a problem, I would have bought a new piston and sleeve set. Thanks!

if the carbon buildup is really thick you're running rich, but if its just a light coat on top of the piston its normal

Yes, it depends on how much, and how black. Usually it's a sign of running too rich, or improper glow plug not burning the fuel completely.
Certainly no need to replace any parts. Just clean it up and run. Also, make sure you're running fresh fuel.

Yeah, it was a lit coat. I was able to clean off some of it, but not all. I think it's also from forgetting to rest it at BDC.
