Thats ok it can stay, I had not seen it before either, so there may be others who missed it too. That is by far the ugliest, most rediculous looking pipe I have seen.

Thats a "Hammer Arrester" for your domestic water in your house. It prevents hammering (caused by changes in pressure) in your water lines when the water is turned on & off... lol
He apparently drilled a hole in the end for an exhuast nipple...
I'm sure it took many minutes to develop that scam...
