It's a possibility that I got the wrong one for my Savage brushless conversion. I'm using the stock spur for the 2 speed trans, and I ordered the 5mm 14T mod 8. It just doesn't seem quite right. Is there another 'mod' number I should have gotten?

I am pretty sure the 1/8 scale world is all mod 1. The T-Maxx and most Traxxas use a .8 mod. They look damn close but just don't mesh up right

That's what it seems to be. They just don't close completely, and I know that's got to be a problem.
I'll have to order another one.

I don't know how much I can handle. I started out getting the 14 so I wouldn't get too much speed, having a 2 speed.
I'd be more than willing to start with the 25. It might end up being what I'd need.

Have you still got my snail mail addy?
I'll cover your shipping.

i was using a mod 1 pinion on a .8 mod spur. it never stripped, but like rolex said, the mesh isn't exactly perfect.

rolex, if you want, i'll mail you a mod1 pinion for your .8 mod?

i have a e-maxx. i think the gears metal, it's like new. even though i ran it this way, it didn't do damage to either gear. it hasn't been ran much and the mod1 gear i have might be a aluminum gear, in fact, i think it is...

what tooth are you looking for and what do you have now?

i'm not far from you, prob. wont take a day or 2 to get there max.

I'm running the stock nitro Savage X spur with the 2 speed trans in a brushless conversion I'm doing. The stock spur is metal, 47 Tooth. The brushless motor is capable of 60,000 RPM and close to 3 HP.
I have no idea which pinion would work the best. The motor shaft is 5mm.
I'm new to brushless, other than helis, but this is the biggest, baddest I've dealt with.

rolex, i am curious how many teeth are on the pinion you ordered that is the wrong mesh.

edit, nevermind i guess it's 14 teeth. i do have a pinion that is mod 1 5mm bore, i will go find for you. i don't know what mod the metal spur you have is, but i'd assume mod 1

i would be interested in a swap my mod 1 for your mod 8. pm me your address and i'll send this gear to you regardless, i can't use it. i don't own any 1/8th scale.

the gear i was going to send you was a mod8 i think my e maxx is a mod1 i'm not really sure. i just know they don't mesh up well and the gear i was going to send you says mod 8. i assumed from the second post it wouldn't mesh up because it came with a 1/8 scale motor new... and my e-maxx should be mod8.

Thanks to an A-Main gift certificate, I looked around the site and ordered a 20 T mod 1. It's for an E Savage, so it should work out on this project. After that's in, I'll know if I should step up or down a few more teeth.
At least I'm in a good mid point with the 20.

I've gone with the theory that the 1/8 rigs are mod 1, and since I found it listed for E Savages, it should be right. I'm still using the nitro 2 speed trans and a steel spur, but it should be the same pitch.
