  1. Bashing
I am a tmaxx guy but got a SCREAMIN deal on this savage. any thing to know? key weaknesses? I desert bash my trucks not really a racer.

He said it was a 4.6! I too am looking at buying a savage 4.6 with heavy duty diffs and heavy duty axles, as well as an xl conversion. The posting is -HPI Savage X 4.6 w/XL Conversion-. And like the original guy (Hoosier), I am also a T maxx guy. I found this one used for $275 at a local hobby shop, the pipe eeds to be reinstalled and its banged up a little, but come on, its a SAVAGE...right. Is this a good deal? What else should I look out for, this seems like a wicked deal, but I dont want to get ripped off!

great truck for bashing. if your a racer it is a good thing you are a traxxas guy because my x has a lot of upgrades like sts .30 engine, pipe, and higher flow aircleaner and i can't keep up with a well tuned tmaxx 3.3 but it is definately stronger than the tmaxx 3.3 i have. good luck you should enjoy your new savage x they are definately strong

yeah it would be a pretty wicked deal... if it has the bulletproof diffs along with the heavy duty shafts and axles, thats about 150 bucks worth of stuff by itself... Its freakin filthy though and that is a funny looking XL Chassis but i can tell its extended because the rear shock tower is not jammed up on the engine

yeah def needs a wash. theres a few on here that would have heart attacks if they saw that. LOL.

I talked to my buddy, he also has a savage 4.6 and a flux...he said that this one looks like a piece of you know what! I think one day I will get myself a savage of some kind ( they are awesome rigs!!!!) but for now I'm going to stick with my t maxx, that thing just keeps on going and I havnt had any probs with it (yet). Thanks for the input though.

I wouldn't pay $275.00 for that, doesn't look like the guy cleaned it EVER. The motor looks like the F4.6, but does it have the easy access diff cases and dual disk brake.

Looks beat up, but looks can be decieving.

it does have the easy access diffs, all x's do. but dual disc brakes only came on the x ss

You are correct in your statement about all X's coming with the easy access diff's, but he could have put the 4.6 motor in it and called it a 4.6.

if u look at it, it has the x battery box, nylon roll cage, bumpers, wheels, everything on it screams x. i can even tell by the transmission placement because the x's have an easier transmission removal process then the 25. but it could also be a 25 that the guy took everything off and replaced everything possible to x parts, but it is highly unlikely

but it is also an older 4.6 due to the fact there isn't a slipper plate on the side of the spur gear closest to the engine. later x's have the 2pc plate

i had an x and it didn't have dual discs, but the part when i said that they only came on the x ss may have been wrong but i figure the 4.6 to be an ss cause they also made a 4.1 which didn't have dual discs
