I'm looking to upgrade my Savage25 with a more powerful engine. Which do you guys prefer? I'm looking for more top end than torque. Some opinions would be lovely! Thanks guys.

The first two engines are clones of each other (the Wasp being the clone of the Outlaw). Regardless, this pair of engines provides some serious power. I'll let owners of this engine make their comments.

I run the Hyper 8-port in my Savage, and I'll just say that it is hard to break in (most big blocks are). Once broken in and dialed in...the fun begins...tons of speed, power, and torque. I recommend the engine without reservation. Great hop-up for any Savage.

any engine will do it.. just have to set your gear settings... ie clutch bell and spur gear... keep your S-25.. it is a really good engine.. just get different combinations of gears from OFNA... you can get some serious top end from that S-25 engine.. $only like $20 total vs $200 for a new engine... it's kinda different if you have a 21bb engine... if you had that engine I would recommend a new engine then... but seriously that S-25 you have is good enough

after running the 8port dfor over 4 gallons of fuel then switching over to the picco 26 I must give the nod for balls to the wall speed and torque to the picco 26
the 8 port is a royal PITA to breakin feels more like the engine is tryin to break you in then the other way around, I found the .26 to be very easy to break in 2 -3 pulls and she fired right up.

u guys ever thought about the XTM 24.7?? i got it and i love it. tons and tons of torque and fast as heck. easy to break in also.

bryan

Has anyone ever put one of these motors into a street car? How fast would a pico outlaw or wasp25 push a street car? over 70? That would be cool if it did.

You can put a 26 or a 21 in a touring car. it will be fast on a strait but controling it is a different story

Is the PICO really a pain to break in? Does it fit into the savage 25 pretty nice, without a lot of modification?

The Pico drops right into the Savage with no problem at all.

The first runs of Pico's may have been a bear to tune, but from what I am gathering the newer needles (in the carb) have made it much easier. I personally didnt have too much issue with it. I did however not tighten the clutchnut enough which made me THINK it wasn't tuned right lolol

to make tunning easier use the 30% nitro.. it is recommended for the .26 engines or higher. but honestly the s-25 motor you have is a great motor.. it's all about the gearing.. why do you want to go to another engine? More torque? Reason why you hear alot of us using these motors is because we all came off of the 21BB...
I think you can spend your money else wear to get better torque or high end...

48T Spur Gear = $12.00
13T or 14T Clutch Bell = $ 9.00

Versus buying a Picc/WASP 26 = $180.00
Sirio .27 w/ 3.1HP = $400+

or you can keep the 49T Spur gear you have and just go with a 14T CB

yes one tooth less makes a diffference.. but if you deciede on getting a new motor let me know... I'll take that s-25 off your hands
