Picco Red Dot Motor (and motor mount) Questions

***And motor mount***

Aside from the OFNA Motor mount one (which is on backorder @ towerhobbies) which is a decent one to go with?

Additionally, I'm wanting to step away from the EZ Start system I think. The electric motor went out on mine (water may or may not have been the contributing factor.. Lol). I'm wanting to go with a set up that uses a drill to start it. I think I've read of them but I'm having trouble trackin down part numbers and what not.

For those of you that use the pull rope to start it. How is it? This is my first rig and I've never used anything other than the EZ Start. So enlighten me on which is the best direction as I've read mixed reviews everywhere.

I'll let you know in a few weeks. I'm in the same boat as you, only used ez start. the picco came with a pull start, but I also bought a back plate and rotor start just in case I don't like the pull start.

You could look into the tiger drive or duratrax super start, but I prefer to pull.

The picco 26 max and 26 red dot are both great engines.

I have just installed a Picco .26 red dot with the pull start in my tmaxx and on my first attempt to start it, the string's knot pulled through the pull start. I had to rethread the string even before the first firing. The picco's have a very tight pinch. So needless to say before trying a second time I ordered a Tiger drive and got it installed this afternoon. Have yet to try starting and break in due to rain. But it certainly looks and feels cool. For the Picco .26 It's Sullivan Tigerdrive model S682. For Revo owners I have heard that you may have minor issues with it clearing the a arm at full compression.

Either one should work fine. If you have a working ez-start I'd use it to break the picco in, then switch to the roto or tiger drive.
Make sure you lower the torque on your power drill and warm up the engine before cranking.

Well my EZ Start took a crap on me. That's why i'm lookin for another route...

Do you mean heat the new motor up before cranking it?

Yup, it'll loosen the engine up a little.
