is the OFNA picco .27 the same as the red dot? and what would i need to put it in my t-maxx 2.5? is it a better choice than the traxxas 3.3? sorry about all of th ??s i just dont know what to do, I'm almost ready to go back to electric :surrender
 
first thing first those arnt big block's they are called mid block's and lets put it like this the 2.5 is a .15 and the 3.3 is a .18 so what your trying to do is a jump in power can be done I'm doing a hadrcore racing chassis and a axial .32 on my t maxx but my truck has everything done to it but alum diff housings

My goodness you're full of bad information..

First things first. The Picco .27 he mentioned IS in fact a big block. A "mid-block" engine is one which has the displacement of a conventional sized "big-block" (.21-.30+) but is housed in a crankcase that is closer in size to a conventional .15 or .18 sized engine. The Picco Red-Dot IS a mid-block, the .27 is NOT. Secondly, the TRX 3.3 is a .20, NOT an .18.

The TRX 3.3 is a significant upgrade from the 2.5. The Picco .27 (being a big-block engine) will not fit in T-Maxx unless you do a big-block conversion which generally consists of a longer chassis.

sorry but no your wrong the 3.3 is a .18 even traxxas the makers of the engine say it is a .18 and there even sold as .18 http://www.rcplanet.com/18_Nitro_Engine_3_3_s/845.htm and not every engine that say's it is .21 or bigger is a big block and there are .27 that are mid blocks like the sirio s27re and the s27 that will fit right in your truck without the big block kit and I'm full of bad info and they dont even make a .20 for a car thats an airplane engine but if you could show me a .20 thats for a truck i would like to see it

I am with Lessen on this one, everyone I have talked to thats in the know on nitro engines has said the 3.3 Traxxas is a .20, mainly saying so because of its odd ball size. Just because a web page puts it in with .18 size engines doesn't mean its a .18, just makes it easier on the webmaster instead of making a whole new section. I also agree that, for the money, a 3.3 upgrade from a 2.5 is a very good choice, there are some very fast rigs with the Traxxas 3.3 engine.

The Traxxas 3.3 engine has a displacement of ~.20 cubic inches, not .18

Also, read my post. I used the word "conventional" big-block. That is to say an engine larger/equal to .21 cubic in. housed in a "conventional" sized big-block crankcase. Mid-blocks are relatively new to the market so if you are familiar with the general size of ANY .21+ sized engine before their debut to the market, then you should understand what I'm talking about.

Again, the TRX 3.3 is a .20, not an .18.
 
No lessen YOUR wrong, the site pretty much almost clearly stated that the TRX 3.3 is a .18, in a roundabout way. They also have a 3.0 in with the ".18/3.3's" so that means my firestorm must really have a G3.3!
 
sorry but I'm with traxxas rcplanet towerhobbies and many others and a .20 is an airplane glow engine and .18 are 3.3 just as .21 are 3.5's if your right that make traxxas wrong and they should of put 3.4 on there engine then whatever you guys I'm sure the makers of the engine are right and like i said if you can show me one i would like to see it beacuse i can't seem to find any .20 nitro engines but i sure find alot of .20 glow engine for airplanes and I'm finding tons of website sell the trx 3.3 as a .18 but they all must be wrong beacuse your right lessen

Actually Traxxas says it is a .20 as well, from thier web page:

This was found in a Traxxas Revo Article.

then i have to tell the local track i can't race this week they keep making me race my jato in the .18 class maybe i should start a new race class just for the 3.3 i wouldn't be far for me to keep racing .18 when my 3.3 is a monster .20 where can i find a track with a .20 class? my track only offers .15 .18 and .21 and up
 
Just consider the .02 cc an advantage, kinda like modding the restrictor plate in a Nascar, only you don't get fined... :D

I don't care what any website says. I'm talking about plain mathematics here... facts son.

1 cubic centimeter = 0.06102374 cubic inch, therefore...
3.3 cc = 0.201378342 ci

next...

It's all about using the right emoticons. :stick: is one of my favs for stuff like that. It gives the idea that your just messin' or poking somebody for laughs.
 
i dont want to spend too much $$ on an engine but i have a big block kit that i can put on if i needed to. i want a good FAST engine for less $$. there are some used piccos on ebay for cheap. does anyone have any tips for buying a used engine?? i might just get a 3.3.
 
I highly suggest not buying a used engine unless you have good reason to trust the seller 110%. If you already have a big block kit then I say go with a big block engine. I've heard the Picco .28 is a real screamer.
